Need to vent

So i let a friend borrow my truck while i was gone doing training for two weeks. He said he needed it for an hour to pick parts up for his car. no big deal i thought so i let him borrow it. Cant get a hold of him for 3 days then i get a call "i wrecked your truck". go to look at it when i get home it looks a lil dirty with some mud spots on the bottom rocker pannles. not to bad though some body damage cheap insurance fix. I go to start it up and it barely starts and when it catches makes a lound knocking sound in the bottom end, almost like piston slap. after a bit it goes away but then theres a soft knock on the top and bottom of the engine plus the dif and transfer is now leaking. i have no idea what to do and cant afford a new engine.

hmm, this is the very reason why i refuse to loan anyone my vehicle for any reason.

Sounds like he effed up yer truck. Hope he's insured.

This is why I never loan vehicles to anyone but my parents.

He said the insurance will pay for the body damage. And swears that he did nothing to hurt the engine. when i left him my truck it was running like it was brand new.

 

I think now he will be picking up parts in his car for your truck. I hope there are no major problems with the engine.

I hope so too, but with the sound of it im pretty sure its gonna need rebuilt. im so heated right now i dont even know what to do.

I'm not sure what you are suggesting exactly...but I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea...Anything that has FTP in it usually is...Unless you were suggesting he try to get the military to force his friend to pay up...which might work...maybe.

Best of luck to the OP trying to get the money out of your friend...Sucks to do someone a favor and have them screw you over like that.

It's going to be a long painful battle to make it right...or expensive for you. Either way-Ya'll won't be friends for long...

so this "friend" didnt fill u in on exactly what all he did with yur truck?

sounds like he went for quite a joy ride and royally f'd it up. i'd get a mechanic's opinion on it and see exactly what all is wrong with it. id go lookin in his car for insurance information and file some kind of report and get it notarized with him with u.

im suggesting some good ol' fashion a$$ whoopin after he pays up or if he doesnt. Your vehicle is also a means of living (replaceable, but at what expense?). and when some messes with my ability to live. . . i dont know about u guys, WE fight back. borrow his car.. . . then sell it.

 

Pure asshattery...Cause then after you kick his ass or steal his car...and you go to jail...How will living be then??

Fighting back the legal way is probably better than being a big bad tough guy...and recommending ass beatings and grand theft auto as serious advice is just dumb.

 

this may be true.........but on the honest side...........there would be an ass whoopin involved....as far as im concerned. sometimes.......you have to to get a point across. im not saying ftp at all....they do their job well, but sometimes, situations like this call for a good ol' bare knucklin.

 

Get an Estimate for the repair from a TRUSTED mechanic, Talk to a lawyer, work something out to have him sign the paper saying he's gonna pay for ALL of it. Get it notorized. If he doesn't pay go to court. Small claims is a max of 5,000 i think, go for the max whatever it is. He can't get away with a little fun, not wonder you're douche bag friend had to buy parts, he probably messed his up doing the same. Good luck!!
