Body Lift on a 1999 Tacoma

I was wondering if i could get some input on putting a 3in lift on my 1999 Tacoma PreRunner... how difficult is the job??? and how much for the part??? this truck finally got around to getting fixed with a new rear, and now its time for the lifts and mods to be installed.

Can i please get some input

 

body lift is a no no. im glad people on TW told me not to install one before i did. I instead waited, made some money, and got the toytec ultimate 3 inch kit. suspension is much better, ride quality and looks. body lifts just look kinda ugly with the frame stickin out IMHO.

 

Just for kicks; I really wouldn't go with a body lift at all, and most TW users could agree!

Definitely go with a suspension lift.

 

im going with x3 on the NO BODY LIFT.

looks bad and is inferior to a quality suspension lift.

 

I have 3" suspension plus 2" body lift..rides awesome..
I wouldnt go bigger than 2" inch bodylift.
bodylifts get a bad rep..
They are kinda a pain in the ass to install though and a shop will try to charge a shitload to put ione on

 

i like mine but go with suspension first if you can

Nothing wrong with bodylifts. Go for it.

 

Other than the fact that they look terrible.

 

They dont look horrible when you have bumpers and sliders made up that fit right with them.

I have as much suspension as I can get on my truck plus the BL. Its grown on me.

But if I had a prerunner I would go Suspension Lift since your already sitting so much higher than my stock 5 lug was.


So in short, if you cant afford the Suspension go for it. If you can wait a little while and get the suspension kit Id do that,

 

Body lifts suck to install. I will never do one again. I won't do one on my Taco, no way, no how... 3" of suspension lift on my Taco and it looks great right where I have it.

Because your frame looks like shat. If you keep it maintained and black as new they look good.

 

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, but body lifts ride very bad also.

Good choice, you won't regret it.

 

i've got body and suspention and it i had the suspention for about a year before i did the 2 in body. it doesn't ride any different than it did. and it is so easy to install. it took me about 5 hours in my garage with a bottle jack by my self. anyone with common sense can do it and they are only around 200 bucks compared to a grand or more for a suspention lift. if you can afford suspention then do it but if not body is easy and looks fine. just buy the extended rubber guards that cover the space between your frame and it looks no differnt.

 

Body 3" believe it or not after jumping the truck and all the offroading the body lift actually pushed up through the body?
My opinion on body lifts is they "can" look nice.... but they are not match to suspension!
