Guess tacos cant do everything

had our 16' flatbed trailer out in a field, figured id try and get it out, it was warm today the snow was melting and packed.. i gave it 4 shots before the strap broke, i did budge it though! then i tried a heavy chain, as soon as it tightened the truck started to sink in place. so i said screw it and plugged in our IH tractor... had fun though!







i would have got it if the strap didnt break..

im in quebec canada... still tons of snow out here, there calling for 55 degrees or so next week hopefully it will melt it down some..

How does having 2 shackles help?

 

I've got a similar story, I tried pulling a trailer up a big gravel hill just last week..Didn't make it Then I tried pulling my truck up with an excavator and broke the strap! You're right, I guess they can't do everything

 

What region? Looks like there's not much snow compared to where I live. Even if spring has come, I don't think any of it melted yet!

You guys are looking at this all wrong. Tacos CAN do everything. The STRAPS on the other hand can't...

 

Airing down may have helped, too. At least OP has Duratracs, which are good in the snow.

 

Because if you're a using an actual snatch/recovery strap, it will have loops on both ends. You're not supposed to loop the straps around, so shackles allow you to use the strap the way it was intended.

 

One for each end of the strap to attach the loop in the strap to the recovery points. An appropriate sized/rated shackle won't become a projectile like those crappy hooks will when they open. In the OP's case, it was a very good thing the nylon strap itself broke before one of the hooks opened up.
