    LOL!

It's funny how some of my "valleys" can be pinned down to the same week I was having issues at work.

My worst tanks have been when I've been pissed at my boss, high-speed interstate vacations, and holiday traffic killing the commute home.

Yeah, I've found interstate driving kills my tank too.
I tend to get angry while driving interstate, it's to hard to cruise. By driving non interstate roads I get better gas mileage and stay a bit more happier.

I'm happy as a clam driving interstate... set the cruise control and roll, but when I'm in AZ, New Mexico, or Texas where the limits are 75 and 80, it's a mileage killer and I drop to 22.
I can pull 25 on the highway in California if I stick to roads where I won't become a hood ornament at 65.

Is this for just Gen2 Tacomas? I have a 2.7L and when I remove the filter box, there is no charcoal filter and I can reach through the air intake and touch the MAF sensor.

Do they only put the secondary filters on trucks going to certain states? Or....? Don't think my moms '12 2.7 4x4 has one.

I'm not sure where it is on the 4.0.
2.7, it's in the lid right above the replaceable filter.

Has anybody tired the k&n Air filter assembly? I have a 98 tocoma and I put those Birkenstock shocks and yokahoma tires and the ride was much better. Iam also looking for a drivers side bucket seat that 60 40 split is killing my back, does anybody know where I can get that bucket seat.

I have run the TRD and the AFE Pro Dry. I have heard that the K&N filters are similar in quality to the TRD filter.
Birkentsock shocks  Are they the open toe or closed toe style:D

As far as the seats go I can only suggest the salvage yards or Craig's List, you might get lucky. I have had good luck with LKQ (I think that is the name) with the quality/condition of the parts.

Hers is the 2.7, it's got it. I didn't know it was on the top part of the lid. Has anyone just tried cutting the mesh part out? Drilling it out seems much harder.

for future reference, I took a pic of mine............ STOCK 2006 TRD offroad 4.0 V6

TRD makes ZERO filters.......... they outsource.
depending on application and who WON the contract, it could be K&N or AFE.

the 1st design TRD intake for the 2005+ 4.0 tacomas was made by AFE, which is why they are exactly like the AFE stage 2 Si minus the front port.
AFE in turn made those filters inhouse.

the newer (FLAWED) TRD cold air intakes for the 4.0 atleast are made by K&N and should therfore use a K&N filter made inhouse.

K&N oil is not MAF friendly, but SUPPOSEDLY the afe is easier on them. Its a different formula and the oil should not be used across platforms unless known to be compatable. The upside to AFE, is they offer the 5r, 7r, and the DRY filters.

    sounds familiar, Ill look around

Factory cruise added, wood storage box in bed, wood center console/armrest, charcoal air filter delete.
Just pry yourself away from it and drill it solidly into your head that removing it has no benefit. Much easier and a cleaner outcome.

Alright, I have a stick 2.7, 2003, I wanted to know if this mod really does give more power, and mpg. I typically get 20-22mpg with my truck now.
