WOW! What a difference that made!!!!!
The truck was sluggish and would idle up and down sometimes when sitting at a light almost dying and the idle would always sit at around 600-650 rpm. It would cause the dash and hood and steering wheel to vibrate and shake vigorously.
Decided to tackle the job today. Took about 3 hours start to finish. It now idles perfect right where it should in gear without any hint of a shake.

I've had idle issues lately and read that the IAC might need a good cleaning and you just sealed the deal. I'm doing this monday night. I hope i resolve the issue.

Idle air control, Mine is a 2.4L which is located on the bottom of the throttle body so you have to remove the TB to get to it. It gets gunked up with carbon which doesnt allow it to open and close properly. Also, the throttle body gets gunked up with carbon. There are tiny vacuum holes that get clogged and the butterfly gets carbon build up on its edge which doesnt allow the butterfly to close all the way

Thats great to hear that its running much better now. I have been putting of replacing my IAC because I heard to the screws holding them on can easily be stripped if you are not using an impact tool.

Luckily my truck was always a Nevada/California truck so there is no rust or corrosion anywhere on it. I just made sure that I found a Phillips head that fit snug and deep down in the head before I attempted to turn them.

Most of the screws on the TB and IAC are brass. So they're soft.

Also, if your a manual, check dash pot mesh.

Remember to replace IAC and TB gasket/seal. Cheap insurance.

yea i cleaned mine a month or so ago and it definitely made some good improvements. when i took my TB off to get to the IAC i noticed how much gunk was in my intake manifold. so i went back to toyota and got a intake manifold gasket, plenum gasket, egr gasket, injector o-rings, new OEM air filter (taking my K&N one out..). i plan on doing some serious cleaning.

If your a manual, you'll have a dashpot. Its on throttle body. black. Plastic about size of aluminum carmex container.

I think it was 144 inch pounds which is 12 ft lbs. for the throttle body to intake manifold. I just tightened the iac screws as tight as I could without stripping the screws..
