    I'm mounting my sliders this week, do you guys have a slight angle or are the pretty flat?

    Mine are at an 18* angle... I angled mine as high as I could with about an inch or two gap for the door.

    Fixed a couple exhaust leaks at the muffler with a big ass breaker bar. Stupid muffler clamps. Any tighter and I think I'll be snapping bolts. Probably should just get it welded at some point.

    Yeah I agree 200%. My little sealed JL 10" puts out way more (and way cleaner/tighter) bass than I could have ever imagined. Plus, the price is right. Will definitely buy JL again.

    Was gonna say get a Magnaflow ...even a blow master, anything but stock, a more restrictive obtrusive exhaust system can't be found

    It is back to sounding amazing. Started sounding so raspy with the leaks. Engine feels smoother too. Probably getting better back pressure to smooth it out.

    Didn't have a 15mm deep socket so stuck a 15mm combo wrench on it then did the old open-end/box-end lever arm trick with a 27mm combo wrench. :eek: Gave it some muscle and a mischievous grin until it felt like it bottomed out. :D

    Lol. I've changed so many on the trail, I've got it down to a 20 min fix from taking the tire off to putting it back on. I'm so ready for a sas but my bank account is very far from it.

    At least its been a year or so since my last CV...I think. I don't even know, I could just be blocking these events out of my memory for all I know haha.

    I wouldn't mind replacing CV's if they where flanged at both ends like a driveline so all it took was a couple bolts and it drops out. I would rather blow a CV then a diff (done that) or a transfer case. Its just such a God damn pain in the ass to replace! At least the gf is coming over to learn how this treachery works.

    Fuck it. I just need to finish my '85 build.

    & tho' its great that you've sharpened your trail emergency fixes down to a science, the sad part of it is our CV's inherit weakness is what has driven you to it... I hear for about $700-$800 some rock solid CV's can be had but I'd throw that money towards a solid axle even if its a drop in the bucket...

    Lucky you, I'm getting ready to do the exact opposite which is why I can't afford it lol.

    And I agree. I'm proud that I can do it that quick but it's still a pain in the ass even if it took me 10 minutes to do. I've tried looking into the better cv's but if I happen to break one of those then that is a hard hit to the bank, whereas my cheapy autozone axles, although maybe as weak or weaker than stock, are free to replace when they do break. So I'll just keep a spare or two in the toolbox until I can start collecting parts for my sas.

    There ya go... I agree, it's not like I'll throw my truck in a shop & tellem' to call me when its done, I'll piece meal it like i do everything else, I'm convinced you can do a quality swap without the 5-figure $$$$ attached to it like some have told me it'll cost, a few grand for sure but not $10k+

    just gotta keep eyes & ears open for the desired parts as they come up..
