Not having tires is driving me crazy because I want to put my lift on. I have to save a little cash before I order them though.

Which is good I guess because it buys me time to install my brake lines at work and use the brake flush machine to get all the air out. It'll make installing the lift at my house easier.

 

Are they a sleeve that goes around the bolt through the leaf pack? What's the benefit?

 

Yeah just makes it easier to throw shims in later if they are even needed.
I added them just because it is very low cost to save a PITA project later.

I gotcha, how's your drive shaft angle looking?

I haven't looked at any of my angles at all yet :/ I prob should have looked before I put on the lift a little closer but I will be under it again tomorrow and will check it out. I get those duratracs at 8:30 am and am stoked. Pics will def come!

 

If you don't mind, what made you go this route instead of using the OEM ones? I don't mind spending more but only if it benefits in some type or way.

 

However, I did get my LR UCA's from HS.

Truck definitely looking good with the lift. How you liking your Nitto's?

The nittos have been a great tire, I would def buy them again. I am getting bigger tires however today and just wanted something that looked more aggressive. I might hate myself down the road since I do about 95% highway driving but we shall see.

 

So I have been to 3 firestones and now a tires plus trying to get an alignment done....they act like they have never done one before wtf?
Where in the heck do you guys get alignments from after your set up with the LR UCAs?

 

Any alignment shop should be able to do it, there's nothing crazy about the upper and lowers having caster and camber adjustment. I plan on doing my own alignment, getting it close to spec with the LR control arm and then dialing it in perfect with the factory centric bolts on the lower control arm.

 

Do you just take the pins that came with the Dakars off and replace them with the new ones?

 

All you do is clamp the leaf pack together, unbolt the centering pin pull it out and slide the collar on then put it back in and bolt it down

I think that is the only thing I'm missing then. I am kind of leary about doing the brake lines so I might be a mechanic to do that part.

 

They aren't hard, except the rears can be hard to get to comfortably under the bed. Better safe than sorry if you haven't done much wrenching before.

 

If you got the OCTaco lines that are a direct fit, it's pretty simple. I had a buddy help me bleed them afterwards. Really not a hard job but I'd probably not mess with it if you're really uncomfortable. Would suck to mess up the brakes, kind of hard to stop without them!

 

Got the Duratracs on yesterday. Done!
