Wow.. was looking at houses in GA and TX, you can get some nice ass houses in GA for not much money

Houses are nice, weather is nice, GS jobs pay the same (more or less) no matter where you are, you have an international airport in Atlanta, its near the gulf..

 

I noticed that too about Texas. I was watching House Hunters and they had huge mansion homes for dirt cheap.

 

Ga took a bad hit with the economy, one of the worst in the south. Lots of poor families borrowed money they couldn't pay back. It was sort of a mission to improve housing in the area, unlike most places where you can visually tell when you hit the bad areas because they are rundown, you don't get that in Atlanta. Also the land is worthless so it makes housing cheaper since developers can purchase the land much cheaper there.

 

Louisiana is even cheaper

I just think its crazy you can buy a 5500 sq ft house for the same price or less than my parents paid for their 3000 sq ft house.. with more land

 

you get larger and nicer houses for less money in the south on the whole as compared to northern states. My house could easily cost $500k plus in northern areas, especially cities

that's actually not true at all. Maybe compared to some parts of Texas, but it Atlanta you can get houses for under 100k that would cost well over 200k in Louisiana. Partially, like I mentioned earlier, due to the land being much cheaper for developers. That red clay is worthless

 

My aunt and uncle live in a 1.2 million dollar 2 BR/1.5BA that's about 60 years old and 1100 sq.ft. in the bay area. In Shreveport, it gets you this.

we do have some areas that cost $500k for 2000 sq ft its just about status there though
