Getting discouraged- 5100's and 285/70-17 stock TRD Sport wheels

I am getting a different story every time I talk to someone new...

I have brand shiny new 285/70-17 MTs and was planning on mounting them on my stock TRD sport 17" wheels. I am also installing the 5100's in the front.

The latest story I have heard is that they won't fit...and that my rear springs are bent, as I was asking about any mod to the rear (blocks, add a leaf...etc)

I bought the truck at 28k miles and haven't done anything crazy so I don't see how they could be bent. That guy must be hallucinating...right?

I'm getting discouraged here...there was mention of new wheels or spacers but I thought I had done a decent amount of research and the set up I was going for would be ok. Granted, if the wheels look silly due to the backspacing and offset I would buy new wheels...but not immediately!

Help?! I don't want to just be a brat and return the tires...they sure look cool in the back of the truck...haha

For the wheels, I heard you would need spacers to avoid rubbing the UCA

    Ok uploading pics...

    Also, accepting I probably need spacers...or ProComp 5001s :)

I think they may be right with the possible rubbing on the UCA, trd sport wheels have 5.5in backspacing which puts the tire fairly close to the uca, i run 255/75 tires and they are about 1/2in from rubbing the spacer, so the extra 17(ish)mm that your tires are wide may cause them to rub your uca, so you could get a new wheel or some wheel spacers to help with the uca rubbing.

I run a 33x12.5x17, which is slightly wider than the tire you're wanting to use, mounted on the stock 17" trd sport wheels. They do just fine, but you will need the 1.5" spacer.

Let's see the pictures of the leafs.

Yeah, those leafs are flattened pretty good looking at that pic. I have an 05 and I don't think mine are that bad

That's pretty standard for the weak leaf springs that come stock. They're not bent, just weak. If you're going to put some money into the suspension buy a set of Dakar leaf springs.

Hmm, need someone more experienced to look at the pics, but the tacoma 2+1 overload leaf packs suck and sag pretty easy. Could be from a lot of towing/hauling or if you have a bed cap

Tacoma leafs are notoriously shitty, I would recommend replacing them with a new pack (wheelers HD, Dakar, All pro etc.) mine were pretty flat like that and i tried to use an aal but they just flattened out in a few months again.

I put a 650 lb quad in the bed...and it was a work truck for the one owner before me...no clue what he hauled though, some kind of chemical something...?

He'll rub on any UCAs...its because the stock wheels aren't back spaced enough. 1.25" wheel spacers from Spidertrax are preferred

If you're going to put your quad in the bed then you will definitely need an aftermarket set of springs.

Is it silly to have spacers in the front only? Will I rip out the inner fender plastic...? I just went and looked at the wheels cranked all the way to the stop with my current 265/65 Nittos
