    <---- On this truck.

Saturday morning I was headed out to get 10 bales of pine straw. When I turned the key the engine would not start. I pulled the battery and took it to Advance Auto where it tested bad so I picked up a new one. It was a few months shy of 6 years old so I guess it was time.

After putting in the new battery I now have an idle speed of about 250 RPM and unless I pat the gas the engine will stall. I figured if I drove it some maybe the computer will "learn" and reset the idle but it has not.

What causes this and how can I correct it?

Oh, I did get the 10 bales of pine straw and got it spread out. Need at least 10 more bales to finish up the springtime yard work. I hate spreading pinestraw but it does look good. At least this straw was fresh and spread easily.

My 05's idle would do the same thing when u would disconnect the battery, and it would go away after driving for a little while. I think it has something to do with the variable valve timing. How far did you drive it?
I had a stick to then, and mine would stall unless I held the gas peddle.

I've now made several trips of 5 to 10 miles each and the problem persists. How do I reset this thing?

You could try pulling the ECU fuse for 5 minutes (located in the engine bay panel). Start the truck back up and don't touch the accelerator or anything for 5 minutes.

    Then turn it off.

That should reset your ECU. Hopefully that helps your truck relearn itself.

Idle the engine with the ECU fuse pulled for 5 minutes? Then turn off the ignition and insert the fuse?

Pull the ECU fuse for 5 mins. Put it back in.

Then start the truck up for 5 mins and let it idle.

    Turn the truck off.

    See if that helps.

Okay, went through this exercise this evening. It took about 10 minutes of idling but seems to be doing better now. I'll see in the morning when I drive to work.
    Thank you.
