Best MP3 Player? Advice?

I had a Creative Zen for about 4 years before it actually died. It was left in the severe heat cold and it kept on ticking. Now it hasnt completely died but I am looking for a new one when it does. I know about Ipods and Microsoft Zunes and the problems with them. I dont know much about Sony Walkmans or the panasonic ones. Any information people have will greatly aid my decisions.

 

i have an ipod and love it the only thing is you have to use itunes but it does put everything together and all you have to do is upload your music, very easy to use. but ejecting from a PC is hard cause itunes has slight problems communicating with windows on ejecting but with everything else its fine. ipods are even easier on a mac. If you have a mac get and ipod and now the classics are like 120/160gb (not for sure on the true amount). Their the biggest on the market and are keep getting bigger. I vote ipod.

 

If you want to connect it to a stereo, than ipod is your only option, unless you go USB

 

Can't beat the ipod, especially for all the accessories & stuff available to hook up to it.

I've got one of the original nano's (4gig) and an 80 gig classic. My husband also has an 80 gig classic.

iPods don't really have any issues....the one I use got washed with the whites and it still works fine....

 

i have an ipod touch its badass, was a pretty penny though. it does everything, has wifi can get any apps. if you looking for just music i would go with something else for the price, but if you want a badass toy i would get the touch.

 

(continuation of 1st post) My ipod i had for about 4-5 years it was the 5th generation 30gb, first gen with video. It has scratches and looks used and i can, accidently, drop it and know its fine. Everything works fine you can change the acoustics to what you listening to, it sorts the music itself through itunes and itunes is updated about every other month so they are getting most of the kinks out. The headphones are great that are supplied, i used to fall asleep with them on and from where i rolled around they broke but that is not a big deal. There is so many accessories to it. They also have the "made for ipod products" so you know the aftermarket product will work great with it, maybe not perfectly, but good. Its just a great product. The only things is you buy it and then the next year you could have gotten one for the same price with over double the capacity but what do i care i've only filled up about 3gb out of 30

 

iPod. I wouldnt ever buy anything besides an iPod. Im on my second one and neither of them gave me any trouble

 

You can buy parts from Apple and upgrade your hard drive. My brother has one that he restored himself and upgraded. Worked like a charm until he dropped it.

 

Ipod is the way to go. They are the very nice. Not just because its apple, but you will get years of enjoyment from one. I have had my ipod in one vehicle or the other for years, 365 days a year and it hasnt skipped a beat.

You are not stuck with iTunes either. Red Chair has a nice PC utility that lets you mount the iPod and manage all of your music. No syncing or anything. Just mount it, move files to and from, and you are done. It build the XML file the iPod needs, on the fly.

Ipod ftw, have a nano 8g and classic 160g. Never had problems with them.

 

I say go with MP3....I have a sansa but all I use for is music. I like the ease of finding mp3 music or downloading from the over 400 CD's I have. I also have an ipod and I'm just not crazy about it. Reason for this is the difficulty I have with getting anything I want for use on it. MP3 much easier to use....

The only thing my iPod does is sit in the shift boot and play music.

iPods are "cool" and all, but a bit overrated. The Zune does the same stuff, and it has a built in radio. But that is also lame.

Pick whatever you want man, they all play music, which is the most important funtion of an "MP3 Player" Who cares if you can't watch a porn on your MUSIC player. =/ Or look at pictures on "NOT YOUR CAMERA" Psh.


So yeah, just an MP3 player will suffice if you are just listening to music.

 

Over-rated, maybe..... but you don't have nearly the support & accessories available for the other mp3 players.

Not that it means anything...but if you get on Youtube and type in:
Zune repair = you get 31 hits/videos
Ipod repair = you get 484 hits/videos
(just an example)

 

I cannot download from the CD's I own into the itunes player for a download to my ipod. I called California and they said yes that is correct. Copyright infringement or something like that. The MP3 player (Sansa) allows me to upload my music from CD's to the windows media player then to my MP3. I can also transfer my music between mp3 players and my music between windows players on my separate computers. I cannot do this with my itunes. I've tried the register other computer thing with ipod but have no success. They're certain things I enjoy about my ipod but being on my second ipod (the first one got caught up in the batch that crash and lock up) I lost alot of music and couldn't replace it. My MP3 player and both computers have got me covered. I hasten to add...the music I enjoy is probably older than most of the guys/gals on this forum so finding it is the first challenge and even with the search function in iTunes I ran across alot of problems finding it with no help from Apple.

Do I need to explain more....(LOL) This is all so very confusing...

 

I've had a 5th Gen iPod for a couple years now and I absolutely love it. Its only 30 gigs, but I've only filled about half of it (roughly 4,000 songs). Its very easy to use, and playlists have got to be the best thing since pirating - I mean, erm..digital music.

In my truck I have an Alpine stereo with the iPod full speed cable. It plugs directly into the bottom port of the iPod and syncs with your stereo. You can pull up your music directly through your stereo interface without ever touching the player.

I've downloaded my CD's into itunes with no problems. How can it be copy infringement when you already OWN the CD's?

My husband and I both run itunes on two separate computers. We both have itunes on our computers and sync to different ipods. Our music collection is located on one hard drive and we share it. It's all in how you setup itunes....

Thanks as I was pretty hot when I was talking to ipod. I was respectful but couldn't believe they were saying what I was listening to. In any event I find the MP3 a million times easier to use than my ipod. But ipod is great too. I just don't have the time to research alot of stuff to get it to it's full potential. I do know I also had problems downloading iTunes when I was overseas vs. MP3 music. (Damm if I can figure it out-but I'm not the sharp pencil in the box either) By the way my ipod is now about 3 years old and maybe that had something to do with it....
