2008 Tacoma and E85

Is anyone running E85 in a 2008 taco 4.0L. Wanting to hear some feed back from those that are. I would like to know mileage,performacne good or bad etc.

 

I didn't think you could run E85 on the Tacoma. I wouldn't anyway....to hell with corn!

 

Corn is FOOD not fuel.

 

Welcome to the site, as far as I know Toyota does not make an E85 engine in any of there vehilces just hybrids.

Yeppers, E85 was a bust....unless we can get it out of switchgrass or tree pulp other than that it was a total dumbass rule from washington to burn our food source...what idiots

I've also heard that the new diesel blends will increase gas mileage by 2.5mpg and horsepower by an amazing 25%!!

 

you would get worse mileage by about 25%. why you ask, well ethanol has 66% of the energy content of pure gasoline in the lower heating value (116090 vs 76,330 BTU/gal) according to the US department of energy website. E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gas, where as normal pump gas is 90% gas and 10% ethanol. do some math and that is where my 25% came from.

if you do a cost analysis comparing gas and E85, it will always cost more to run your vehicle on E85. i did a comparison for a recent paper, using the gm supplied values for hwy driving of the popular tahoe 2wd, 15000 miles per year, and the most recent fuel prices in san diego, it would actually cost you $400 more per year to run on E85

e85 and corn ethanol is a bunch of bull. the simple properties just arent there to replace gas.

 

I got a headache from reading that. Too freaking many ##'s! Bottom line is E85 is not as efficient as petrol. I would rather fuel my car with crushed and distilled dead (or alive) hippies & homeless I find in San Francisco and San Diego. They seem to be everywhere and have no real value to anybody but drug dealers.
Note: Real vets (not the b.s.'ers that just write that on cardboard) and the disabled are excluded.

 

In addition to what others have said, doesn't it eat through rubber gaskets, fuel lines, etc? So your vehicle has to be designed to run E85? Which the Tacoma is not designed for.
