3 cap welds? Oh your doing stringers as the cap. We do a weave to cap it.

I have some bend tests on pipe coming up soon. Tomorrow is my 2g pipe bend. Next week will be 5g pipe bend and week after will be 6g

Yeah that one will be interesting, might have to practice that one a little more before I test on it. I did the plate bends already with TIG and did perfect. Haven't done them with stick or wire feed yet

You're thinkin just the walls will bend in? I've been thinkin about a design change that should allow for gussets but then wouldn't it just bend around those?

not sure on the specs and all that but if youre only doing it for the bumper then you really only need 1/8" of pen because you will be fully welding the outside and putting a good amount of welds on the back side.

just be careful when youre welding it, aluminum warps a lot once you start welding on it

i doubt they would do it, and im not exactly sure why. Mainly because ive never seen one of the companies make an alum rear, and i dont want it to bend.

but i just found a thread on ttora with some pics of homemade rear HC bumpers, thinking i might do it out of steel :D

I changed up the design after this but it helps a lot.

Cause most people end up buying a more powerful welder after their first, I did. Usually you think oh I'll never need to weld anything thicker then 3/16 and then as you go stuff comes up where you want to weld 1/4 or 3/8. For trucks you will really never go over 3/8.

That's not bad then'I just saw 3/16 and not the part about spool gun. That should be good. Mounts for my bumper, and other non truck stuff, but more power is always good:D

New addition to the shop. Got 500 parts to make for the stage for the academy of country music awards. It's quite the difference going from my 24 yr old MM250. Next is a push/pull gun

I was seriously contemplating doing something like this but couldn't think of anything, that's the perfect way! Totally should copy him lol.

For 800 that's not a bad deal. You can always upgrade if you want later Hobart's are good from what I hear, no personal experience.

Can't say anything about that helmet but in my experience cheaper helmets seem to lag more which bothers my, some are fine with it, at home I use a free one I got with my welder. At work I use a fixed shade with good lenses, love them.

I have no experience with that helmet but I like my Chicago electric one, it has the grind mode, and IIRC it was pretty cheap from harbor freight.

I like our Hobart handler 140, really wish I had a excuse to step up to a 110/220 machine though (just for the options)
