So quick question for anyone running larger shackles:

I found out I have a broken leaf in my stock pack that has 180k on it. Another member is basically giving me his old leaves when he lifted at 60k. I needed to replace the hardware so I went with the daystar 1.25" greasable shackle and a greasable main eye bolt. I'm reading that lift shackles are bad for a leaf pack and will cause it to wear more quickly. Is that only on stock leaves or all leaf packs? I do plan on upgrading the rear next year after our wedding/settled, just can't afford to do it right now. Will I run into any issues running it for a year and is it something that will give me issues even with a new leaf pack? The only reason I got a slightly lifted greasable shackle was because I figured if I could upgrade a little at a time I would.

Looks good! I love mine. Plus it's half the price of a can-back. But the frame of a can-back is useable. What happened to yours?

I'm running 1.5" lift shackles on a set of dakars. I've read that longer shackles can wear out the leafs quicker but I think if it's a solid/ strong leaf pack you'll be ok. I think people are talking about the longer shackles wearing out the stock leaf packs quicker because the tacoma stock leafs aren't that great. The stock leafs sag within a couple years of just holding the bed weight. So when you lay them flatter by adding longer shackles they are gonna wear out even quicker. Since your gonna upgrade next year I think the shackles will give you what you wanting for the time being. But I wouldn't think that used stock leafs could maintain a 1.25" shackle lift longer than a year or two.

    You are correct

Hopefully this summer Ill be back, either that or an s14 :drevil:

Your tires are sitting in a storage container waiting for me to roll them over to your place! Lol pm your address old man and I'll get them over there within the week!

Didn't plan on selling mine either when I got the 2nd gen but my folks could use the money right now and I don't really have much money to continue a build for a bit with me going back to school. Oh well though, I'll just be patient and buy something decently fixed up down the road

    :p
