Only things I really buy is food and gas. If it's a large purchase, I'll use my parents card and give them the cash

That makes no sense whatsoever. Paying cash is effectively saving compared to credit cards. Because then you're paying interest in turn over paying for everything.

Or I'm missing something

I'm with you, I just paid mine and my wife's credit card bills off for the month, I need to do a budget ASAP. And stop buying toys..... That won't happen hahah.

 

No way I get 3% cash back in all my credit card purchases. So I swipe through the whole month and pay it off before the due and I don't pay any Interest.

 

I'm slightly paranoid about using cash because I don't want to use what I have on me all up and my card decides not to work lol. I use a debit card mostly.

 

Yuppy keep it going got to pad that retirement. I cashed out my 401k a few years ago because I didn't need it. I have an IRA a 457, and investments through my work so I'm good with that. I pay into FPPA not social security as well which is nice because I'll get my mine back unlike most of the younger people of today are goig to pay their parents retirements with social security.

 

My goal is to retire before 60.. need to start saving now

 

Yeah I'm shooting for 55 but could push towards 60 and use the last 5 years and do a drop program which can put like another 300k plus in retirement for me.

 

If I can make 65k a year or more pre tax, and could get 6% interest somewhere, I could retire by 56 (without my inheritance from my parents)

I told my parents to blow their money before they die haha. I want to have more money in retirement than I had while working and I'm well on my way to accomplish that. My employer also matches 8% into FPPA for me which is nice.

 

All prices you see on items are adjusted to account for the fee that the credit card company takes out of every purchase. By paying cash you are paying this higher rate, yet there is no credit card company being paid. This is why gas stations charge less for cash/debit, because it cost them less.

The credit card company does not get the $3 if you pay in cash. That goes to the store, hence why Timmy said overpaying. If nobody had credit cards and everything was in cash/debit everything would be cheaper. I am no economist or businessman, but I am pretty sure that is how it works.
