[IMG] I'm a self tought welder. Nothing serious. So I'm new to the trade. I've only stick welded with7018 rod. But here is a current project I'm on now. This is my second bumper I've made.

Question on cutouts for air flow, where, how many and are they necessary? Here is my current progress, I will be adding a winch and LED bar at a later time, so no cutouts in the front rectangles at this time for those. I will be adding a removable skid with a few 4" holes in it to cover the bottom section, and cutting a /----\ shape in the vertical support below the winch plate to get better flow to the bottom of the radiator, are any others holes really needed, or just for looks?

I never put any holes in mine and it did just fine temps wise. I figured that compared to the stock setup, it's getting more airflow down there now than it was before.

    Looks good!

Thanks Ben, I was actually looking at yours as well and noticed that. I may add some for winch access, but without having one right now, no idea where they would actually be needed.

Its so smooth, I almost wanna sell my 250 and buy a second one. But I'll probably keep the 250 for a work horse.

Personally, the main thing i'd be worried about would be the trans cooler, the radiator is big enough that it can deal with a little restriction, but I don't think that the trans cooler is as lenient about that.

The 252 is a work horse as well we run 150+lbs or wire a month in them both I've had them for about 2 years and they run strong! The only thing we changed on them is the torch leads to these http://www.bernardwelds.com/q-gun-series-p151419#.UzL4Bfk_Aus and they are awesome! they come on the 350p but not the 252 and they are the best torches I have ever used. The starts are so much more crisp the gas cloud shields the puddle so much better and the contact tips last forever!! and I mean it I've had the same tips on both machines for about 300lbs of wire and they are still fine.

I'm talking more for dual shield and stuff with the 250. I run all the Bernard center fire tips on my miller guns, so I already know the benefits of the center fire stuff. I run 45lb spools and change my liners every other spool. I do alot of maintenance to help keep my weld consistency up. I've never had an issue with the m25 guns, but never used a q gun either

That's what I figured, I will be sure to get some flow down low.

I'm running a new Lincoln viking hood. Only had it a month or so though. Used for probably 50 hours or so. No complaints yet, but then again its brand new.

Actually in order to weld outside in the bright sun you have to turn the sensitive all the way down, almost to grind mode to keep it from darkening randomly

I also have a Kobalt hood that was the first auto darkening I used in school behind the Jackson fixed shade they give you.. No complaints from any of them and the Kobalt one has grind mode as well. Ill say my Lincoln hood is much more comfortable though and ill go hours at a time after welding and forget its even on

Im still working with it, had it for almost a ear now.. got the whole kit c from a guy in NC for half retail but the guy who put the tg truss on had it crooked as fack, so I pulled the axle apart and cut the truss off in prep for my new truss im currently still drawing out on CAD to be cut.. then waiting on all the new seals and such to get here so I can get it back together! but I don't see much issues with it as of yet, I will however have the truss designed to be sloped along the front side where the housing just kind of goes straight down  to kind of help slide up over stuff if that makes and sense. hope to be able to get it all put back together by the end of april and start cutting soon after!

I love and hate those days, earlier this winter we did a bunch of shop clean up, including sorting all the hardware/fasteners people just threw in random places:rolleyes:

I just went from december, jan and part of feb working 6 10s, and then the past 26 days of 12s. So this week being slow is a relief, but I would rather be working. What kinda work do you do?
