Paying off loans definitely helps boost your score. So does having credit available that you're not carrying a balance one (like a credit card that you completely pay off, for instance). On the other hand, too much revolving credit can be a negative (like having 6 credit cards with 5000 limits when you only earn 20k per year, haha!).
I'm not sure how the rating system has changed in the last 10 years, but when I was there it was a combination of past history of loans and repayments, current open revolving credit amounts, current balances, age, and a healthy dose of random bullshit # assignment. I mean, you could run numbers on somebody two days in a row, nothing had changed, but their score could come out different by 10 points or more in either direction.

It does if you'd have forgotten a payment otherwise, haha!

Yeah I just prefer not keeping a balance on my card, so if I have enough to pay it off, I will. Just get it out of the way

I was referring to you paying your bike off 14 months a head of time. It's not a bad thing but it doesn't make your score go up.

I wouldn't keep a balance on a credit card either. Interest and fees will make that number double in no time.

General question:will 15" rims fit OK over my calipers or will I have issues?

Never tried but I've heard you need to shave alittle off the caliper.

Your 2nd gen or your trail rig? They will not fit you 2nd gen at all. Brakes are too big. Some 16" don't even fit.

Credit scores are a bunch of smoke and mirrors and are complete bullshit if you ask me.

    Yes and no .
Believe me I went from under 500 to my current score of 815 .
Took me just over 10 years to fix my credit. Glad I did though .

I understand the use for the scores but people who pay cash for things get completely screwed. Credit companies view the lack of using credit as a huge negative. You can have a better score with a few blemishes on your credit vs. having no history at all (because you were actually responsible and saved up for the things you bought rather than using credit).

Thank you sir. It is for my 2011, so I will not be buying those wheels from Craigslist. If anyone is interested though, the guy will drop the price to 800.

I've never really understood how bad credit is better than no credit. Banks would rather give a better deal to someone they see can't pay their bills. :notsure:

Saving up enough cash to buy a house is challenging, though.
