    Meh, its Tennessee? haha.

Either the student's parents have connections are enough money to raise enough stink about the issue. I've had plenty of classes where teachers restricted what you could talk about, particularly abortion or gun control simply because they got tired of reading or hearing reports about those subjects. This teacher had the misfortune of stumbling across a student or a student's parents that where particularly stubborn or had political connections that saw an opportunity they could exploit for political gain.

My guess is there is probably more to the story than what the article provided. Technically I would agree the teacher's request since God isn't a person. Things could have gotten all sorts of murky if the kid had chosen Jesus though haha.

I guess there is a fine line between whats acceptable to speak about and whats not. The rules need to be very clear to prevent lawsuits from "offended" people.

My county was in a lawsuit for holding high school graduation in a church. Its a really big church and cost them very little compared to using another building of a similar size. They used to hold graduations in the high school gym and each person was allowed to invite two people.

I dont see why anyone cares that its in a baptist church, I wouldnt care if it was in a mosque or scientology church.

The group that had the lawsuit against them was also several hundred or even 1000 miles from the state of Georgia.

If people who believe only what scientist have learned and ignore the possibilty of creation, that would make them ignorant as well as the Creationist who ignored what's to be learned from science.

Just because someone believes in creation doesn't mean that automatically makes them close minded to science and what could be or is learned from it. But somehow, some people continue to "think" that's the way everyone who believes in creation thinks.

The close minded ignorance is on both side of the fence on that topic, I see it everytime it comes up.
I think it's a shame there's no more cohesion from those stubborn type than there is on the topic.

I believe in creation also evolution, and find science very interesting.

I'll leave it at that, these topics seem to take the wrong turn.

The law looks like it just says students are able to express religious beliefs in class, and that its the students decision to speak about it and is not the idea of the state but the student.

The best part is he said they saved his life. He was a 15 mile walk back to "civilization". That would take most people 4-maybe a little over 5 hours to trek it... Come back with help...
