It looks like the company was really trying to make sure they got the 5300 right before they put it out. It looks like it is a good product, we got a good price, and they let us do a group buy so, in my mind, they are not all bad.
We have to wait like everyone else, a few people might get them faster, but we are getting them at wholesale. I say cut everyone some slack and wait untill they assemble line is rolling. This is not a huge company, I am sure they are doing the best they can, they might have wanted to get them out earlier, and they might have been telling everyone they would even though they didn't know if they could delivery. But, come on, isn't that part of business. This is not retail, this is the manufacture we are dealing with...I think shit like this happens.
This post is fun though, gives everyone a chance to bitch...
    It's all good!

Sorry but I fail to see your logic about Pop and Lock and the PL5300. The '09 Taco has been out for over a year now. They have been saying "next month" since last October. They finally get a small run of 500 units out in July that were gobbled up quickly. And now no more PL5300's until late September. Sorry, but Pop and Lock has really screwed the pooch on this one.

BTW, I bailed out of the group buy and got my PL5300 elsewhere and installed it a few days ago. It is a nicely constructed unit but looking at the parts it isn't rocket science. P & L has been making these locks for years. So why was this one so difficult to get out to the public? All they did was move the camera to the other side.

Actually, vendors are not to my knowledge.

Some vendors placed orders in October for over 50 units... Some of those dealers still have units available and are selling them. But as far as I know PopNLock is not shipping any 5300's right now.

I need almost 90 units just to fill my current orders... With about 5 or so new ones everyday... All those customers are waiting just as you are...

Now, PopNLock often under estimates demand and drops the ball. They have been doing it for years. Before this at one point 5200's were hard to get and people waited FOREVER for the locks for the Honda Ridgeline. Literally months just like this. And over a year later it still took me 2.5 months to get an order of 20 of those.

My point being this is SOP for PNL. When I saw this buy start I told myself this would be a disaster for you before it was over knowing how PopNLock works...

For all your other truck parts, hit up Luke! I got my roll cover from him and he provides the best customer service, the best pricing, and does not over promise.

    Thanks again Luke!

I am just glad there are 5300s floating around out there, at least we know they can make them, and make them well. Not going to waste any of my time being upset about anything so trivial. Anyways who else makes a tailgate lock like this, with this quality? I wait because I don't see a better alternative. We can bitch all we want, they know they are the only company that makes the lock so they can afford to ignore us. So why get angry, be ignored and get more angry? I know it's fun to be angry at times, but if you're angry and can be ignored, that's no fun at all. That's just sad. Real sad. Let's all cry together.

Don't count on them making it well. I got mine in from good old eBay and when I went to bolt it onto the tailgate I couldn't get one of the two hex screws in. I tried and tried and couldn't figure it out. Finally looked down into the screw hole and saw the problem...no threads for the screw.

    The good hole:

    The useless hole:

I don't know if the eBay guy is pedaling bad handles or if Pop & Lock just has no f-ing idea what they're doing.

I asked the same thing. Mine hasn't arrived.:(

Guess I'll just wait longer...I don't even remember how much I spent on it.

    Post 850

"I am waiting on the order confirmation and charge to my credit card for the rest of the locks not including the 5300's.”

He hasn't even gotten confirmation or charged for them and it’s been almost a week since this post and still no word.

Honestly if we don’t hear back from Pop and Lock by Monday I'll be requesting a refund as well. I'm not in a huge hurry but having to check back on this day after day without an update is getting really old. The 8250 is not a new lock so I don’t understand the delay. Regardless of how their vendors may feel about this, they made a commitment to sell them and they need to follow through.

With the amount of post and content this thread have gotten it’s very likely that anyone doing research on pop and lock would find this thread. If I were them I’d do what I need to to end this entire situation.

Whoops...missed that one. Thanks, raskal. Still pretty disappointed, and like you said, its not a new lock. I guess I'll still wait patiently and hope that it will one day arrive.

    Well Dgerm,
I am going to have to ask for a refund buddy. I hate to do it, but who knows when this will actually happen and I would rather go and find other ways to get this lock.
Thanks for all of your hard work. I told my wife that it sucks because this was the first Group Buy that I joined in on and it's taking forever. I know they don't usually go like this, but sucks to be de-virginized in such a brutal manner.

I contacted him about it and he respond very quickly by sending another one my way. I'm sure it was just a fluke thing with mine so I don't foresee any problems when I get the 2nd one.

If it is the guy in Canadia, then I just bought two from him. He is putting them in the mail tomorrow and I should have them soon. Once again THANK YOU DGERM FOR EVERYTHING - I HOLD NOTHING AGAINST YOU AS IT IS AND HAS BEEN OUT OF YOUR HANDS!! I think that with everything that you have had going on with school and all you did an amazing job. People need to give you a break. Thanks again!
