You're going to need more run time considering you show up to camp in the dark every time.

except for maybe 1 or 2 others, i'm the yungest in the office, meaning i get the "privelage" of working nice long hours....even on fridays :pout:

i did take off that friday of Toyota Jambroree, so i'll have all day friday there. but i'll still be getting there well after dark on thursday

but really, while MOAR RUNTIME!!! is alway better, and the American way, i'm not going to need 9 hours of tent illumination. for camp setup, i'll probably still jsut use the truck lights.

I need to stop playing on the interwebz......

just found this. may have to get a bigger battery and add these to the light box, or just build a second box. i have a little bluetooth speaker box that works really well, but it's not waterproof. I have some nice Polk Audio marine speakers sitting around that would be perfect for this. all it'd need is a waterproof head-unit.

Tear apart your bluetooth speakers and add the module to the new speakers in the ammo can.

i thought about that, but i really like how compact that speaker is and how well it works.

you can pick up a low end marine head unit for $50. then you have radio, cd, and aux inputs. hell, for $75 on Amazon, you can get a head unit and 2 speaker, all waterproof. it's not nice stuff, but then again, neither are the acoustics of an ammo can.

Brown Santa dropped off some stuff today. Genisis LED, Blue Sea waterproof 12v outlet, and Rigid Industries waterproof switches. only thing still to come is the battery, which arrives tomorrow. Got everything mounted and sealed up this evening. tomorrow all I have to do is wire everything up, and we're ready to rock.

i'll post the installed pictures tomorrow morning.

Rausch creek, yes. I don't recall the trail though. probably the new section though, as I remember a lot of those newly cut stumps over there.

Hardware done, just have to wire now....

spot light stowed for vertical flood use

waterproof 12v outlet to both charge the units battery, or to charge celll phones etc.

Drain hole so the handle area doesn't fill up with water when it rains

there is a recessed area where the lense is pressed into the sluminum housing. i don't want that having water just sit in it, so i siliconed the gap.

It's so nice when things work out......

turns out that these batteries might as well have been made specifically for this box. the one came in today. fit so well that I went searching for more. it's actually designed to power a game camera, so I headed to Academy and found the identical batteries. I can actually fit a 4th, but I want to use that space for some other stuff. 9.25 hours of flood light and 1.5 of spot light just tripled to almost 28 hours of flood light, or about 4.5 hours of flood light :D

thinking I may add a waterproof double USB port with the voltage regulator inside the box, as well as toss a small 150 watt inverter in the box with a waterproof AC outlet. that way i'll have all of the charging bases covered, and will never have to open the box except to get the charger for the box itself out. at that point i'll add 3 more waterproof switches to control power to the 3 charging ports.

thanks. it's been a fun little spur of the moment project :)

should have it all wired up before the night's out. i'll bring it over tomorrow.
