17 years for a dog is pretty old. Doubt it would make a difference whether it drank beer or not :notsure:

I've had plenty of beer(shhhh I'm 19) and I'm still here. If I had antifreeze, I'd be heading to the hospital. That's the difference

What you don't seem to get is that beer to a dog is more toxic than it is to humans because their bodies don't deal with it the same way ours do. You keep comparing yourself and it's not the same. It's not as toxic to them as antifreeze (the only reason I brought this up was because the point was made that they like beer so it must be alright) but it's not as non-toxic to them as it is to us. So, the question is, how much antifreeze would you comfortable with mixing in your beer? After all, we're talking about toxic levels to dogs somewhere between those two to humans.

    No, I didn't.

Our dog ate 1/2 a bag of m&ms and she was fine even the vet said as long as it's isn't dark chocolate she will survive.

Correct. It takes a LOT of milk chocolate to kill a dog but that doesn't mean smaller doses won't make them sick. It's easier to just say to keep chocolate away from dogs rather than explain all the differences. Especially when, like beer, there's zero beneficial reason to give either one to your dog intentionally.

The effects of a dog eating dark chocolate is a lot more harmful than a dog getting a sip of beer. Hell our dog sips beer it's the end of the bottle so it may just be backwash and not beer

While I agree we're just talking varying degrees of toxicity. There's still zero beneficial reason to give a dog either one. None. So why administer any level to even risk it?

BTW, those who disagree with me have stated they do more than let their dog lick the bottle.

Once again, these are all things THEY NEED TO SURVIVE! Of course trace elements are going to be present in all of the above. The key here is trace elements and necessary evil. You're trying to justify what you're doing (voluntarily giving your dog toxins for no known benefit) by comparing it to these three things isn't going to get you very far.
