ok well sorry i didnt get it up sooner i was really busy all day. so here it goes!

im not going to really list everything you need beacause it comes in the instructions, but a retchet, torque wrench, sockets, deep sockets, wd-40 or pb blaster, car ramps, and anything else you think you might need.

    DSCN3786_5cdb534638a03986b601838cee5b23a05412b685.jpg
Here are the headers with everything you need, two bolts, two nuts, that “U” shaped thing, and also instructions that are a little vague. Well at least I thought so oh and I got everything from www.urdusa.com
    DSCN3787_0b1c148ec1357e474a9761dd46d7a8511e39af3b.jpg
Ok So here is the truck up on the car ramps make sure you have them or some you can borrow. Or I guess you can just use a curb if need be haha.

    DSCN3789_e3e88d5a74f6edc01c023c8fb43e1717f2d84264.jpg
Ok so first things first make sure and disconnect the battery from the truck don’t wana forget that!
    DSCN3790_e628faf724172c22d22c58ffd0415319272f976f.jpg
Ok so here is my set up an almost stock engine with the only mod which is obvious KNN intake, and excuse the engine bay I know its dirty!! And sorry the picture is a little messed up I don’t know why??
-so the first think you want to do is remove the intake completely, remove the piping from the cone and also the engine, as well as the air flow sensor, the rubber tubes, and the two bolts holding another sensor (well I think it’s a sensor not sure) on the back side that you cant see

    DSCN3791_c7b17c94b4dad1f00d974895f2bada4e75c87b85.jpg
This is where I distonnected the piping from the engine I thought it was easier taking it off this way instead of having to ratchet upside down

    DSCN3793_0d18e25d759369a1183a66aa4c50516d099f52fe.jpg
Once the intake was completely off this is what your left with pretty simple. Also I would recommend covering the intake hole with something unlike I did, it was windy and my yard is a work in progress so wind+dirt=bad

    DSCN3795_90e5d3490de8593c88198778515df6363edd2e37.jpg
After the intake is off take this tube off so you can disconnect the silver thing it is connected to the "EGR" once again unlike I did which made it a lot harder to work in I finally realized I should have taken it off toward the end. It is connect by two bolts.
    DSCN3797_bda15609ca7046577927c89d479ec90810821568.jpg
After the ERG along with the stock “U” shaped thing is disconnected which has four bolts to unbolt. start working at the heat shield which you can tell I have already unbolted, so save your time and do what I say!! The heat shield has five bolts three toward the top and one that the bottom I believe sorry I don’t have a picture of the top three.

    DSCN3796_556d1af6faa427adbdd34042802c165be40cae22.jpg
To get to the lower bolt on the shield get under the truck and get at it. The ratchet is obviously hanging on the bolt.
    DSCN3802-1_0f2b924f900d6ba4a869c8da0f8f449d8d16a9a4.jpg
Once the heat shield is out, which is easier to pull out the top, but be careful and be patient I think that was the hardest thing to remove. Unbolt these two bolts from the headers connected the the rest of the exhuast which are a bitch to get off take your time here and don’t get frustrated they will come off!! Once these two are off get back to the engine bay and unbolt the headers. There are eight bolts two at the top, three in the middle, and three at the bottom. Some are really tricky to get to.(sorry I don’t have a picture my computer messed that one up worse than the one before couldn’t even see anything) Once all eight bolts are out your pretty much done!! Don’t forget the save the gasket in between the headers and the rest of the exhaust youll need to reuse it, as well as the gaskets between the block and the headers, and the gaskets between the MAF and the "U" shaped thing. When you take the headers off clean the gasket and the block with a scotchbrite pad. after thing you just need to put everything back together in reverse order. One last thing im not sure if this is correct but I used a torque wrench to torque the bolts to 27 pounds when I was done. Does anyone know if that is the right number?

    DSCN3804-1_cc7fe31e86be2af2036fddfe74c5e1f6894fbdf5.jpg
Anyway here is the finished result minus the intake. It was a little hard at times but totally worth doing it your self!! Over all i thought everything went very well it took a little longer than i expected but i hope you guys can learn from my mistakes. and for the headers they are amazing i can really feel the low end power, also the sound is pretty damn good i have a link to some vidoe clips one with the exhaust and intake and the other one with the intake exhuast and headers. please let me know what you guys think and also sorry if the write up is a little slopy its my first! but i really hope it helps some of you guys out!!

Second Vid- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-Kc_AOizoI Intake, magnafloe, and DT Header

one last thing if anything is confuseing let me know so i can edit it so no one gets confused!!

How much did that run ya? A comparison pic of the 2 beside each other woulda been cool. How much supposed gains? Definitely nice looking piece. Not sure I want my truck loud. My car is already that, lol.

the shinny u thingy im pretty sure isnt the maf but something along the lines of an evap. im pretty sure it takes exhaust gases and recirculated them through the intake

thats what i was meaning lol took me so long to come up with the wrong term anyways but ya its the exhaust gas re-circulator which is what i assume egr stands for

I think it adds some fresh air to the exhaust gasses to completely burn off hydrocarbons, emmissions either way. Excellent writeup! I might do it myself now, but those odd angles n wrenches really dont do well with my patience lol.

well thanks guys hope it really helps you out, also thanks for correcting my on the MAF i really didnt think that was right but thats what the guy at sutozone told me when i was asking about the torque specs haha so thats why i asked if 27 pounds was correct as well. also it takes a while but the feeling of getting it done is awesome and it saved me a good 280 for the install.

Helped a lot! Nice 5lug too. My 4wd is similar ,but base model. I dont feel so adventurous any more on stuff like that,so I'll buy them this fall maybe, and review The thread. Thinking I'll stay stock exhaust though, i like em quiet.;)

Nice write up thanks. Mine is on the way and can't wait to slap it on. What kind of low end gains did ya get with it.

Great write up!! I've been meaning to put mine in for quite a while now. I think I've read 30 pounds for the torque, so you're probably good.

I wonder if this is really worth the money (I realize 'worth' is a relative term) for a naturally aspirated engine. The stock manifold appears to be pretty free flowing and efficient as is.

Does anyone have any opinions from first hand experience that is not based on the butt dyno? I'm interested to hear some feed back on performance gains from this particular header.

Taco505 was kind enough to do a install write up. So now we need the dyno write up. Hmmm who is up for it, SC4333, congratulations, your name came up.:D

Haha, I'm not dropping 450 bucks until I see some numbers myself. A URD S/C is in the plans whenever they release it, and the DT headers will go with it, but I am very interested to see the gains in a N/A application.

BTW, great job on the write-up, Taco505.

Dont blame you, really. I'm usually skeptical of hp gains, I'm wondering why i believe these gains, but dont trust cai or muffler claims. Would be nice to do a step by step, of these mods on a dyno though.
