    truck is finally back together. i haven't been able to drive much yet other than back and forth from work, but so far the difference is phenomenal.


    also finally started the next project while the truck was down......... which involved taking a cut off wheel to the rear bumper :cool:

    So far my first impressions of the 5.29's has been fantastic. I've only taken the truck on a couple short trips on the highway so far but the constant hunting for gears has basically stopped which makes me a much happier camper. Going off of what the Tac is showing (extremely accurate, i know :rolleyes:) i'm running about 2,600-2,750 rpm going roughly 75mph. Not too shabby in my book. I haven't figured out what the gas mileage is yet but at a glance it looks like i may have gained a few back.


    FYI- I'm running TG in the rear and Nitro in the front

    Fantastic to hear the drivability is back. I hated when mine hunted for gears.

    How is the speedo doing, is it way high?

    the constant hunting for gears in the mountains drove me insane! i'm curious to see how the truck performs once i put the RTT back on and get some drive time in the mountains.


    yep. spedo is pretty high. still getting used to it. seems to be about 10-12 high. every time i look down i think i'm speeding like a mad man

    i'm still trying to make it work. i really want to go but my current job is what is stopping me (as in i have 0 leave days until after the 1st year of employment)

    There is a fairly simple fix for the speedo. There is a small gear that spins the speed sensor that gives data to the ecu for both mph as well as odometer. If you are interested, I can get you a part number for the one I used. I've got a record of it somewhere.

    I hate to tell you, but your odo is off by the same amount as your speedo. The same sensor reads both. :eek:

    Yea and his will still be off with 5.29s. Think the gear you got was the smalles you can get and only fixes 4.88s

    I think that is right but he will be way closer that what he is now. Mine is not perfect either, it reads about 1 mph high.

    IIRC, I removed a 31 tooth gear and put in a 33 tooth version. I think 33 is as high as they go. :notsure:
