Might have been in stock when they went on sale. Wheelers is good people in my experience, I would give them a call and see what they can do.

The bolts aren't what necessarily fail....

SGT Taco noticed my ball joints were spitting grease. 125k miles on them. Out with the old, in with the new. Took me two days to do them, working on them 2 hours each day.

I didn't screw around and ordered the OEM LBJ kits from Camelback Toyota. No issues on the install.

Yeah I guess but you can also take the plastic cover off and inspect the timing belt and change it out only when it shows wear. I feel much safer with my life knowing I have new ball joints holding my heavy-ass tires.

    ^^bingo

Plus you should also be doing an inspection on your upper and lower ball joints anyways. In they are broke and spewing grease..you've got an issue. Fix it.

Replacement ones often aren't as strong as OEM ones

There are just too many pictures of ball joint failures for it to be more likely that the bolts loosen and shear imo... :notsure:

Sheared bolts versus the spindle detached from the ball joint? Maybe I'm thinking incorrectly on what y'all are talking about...

I believe that is why there was a recall on certain LBJs. But almost all the ones I have seen, been a part of, read on here, have been bolts.

Those are the first pics I have seen of the actual LBJ popping out.

I guess you're mister speedy.

Step 1. Get hi-lift out of bed
Step 2. Jack up front end with hi-lift from Step 1.
    Step 3. Remove tire.
Step 4. Remove CV shaft nut with big-ass breaker bar.
Step 4.5 Remove 4 LBJ bolts
    Step 5. Remove CV shaft
Step 6. Futz around getting ball joint puller on to LBJ
Step 7. Drink a coke, eat some cool ranch Doritos.
Step 8. Torque down puller and give the knuckle a love tap with a hammer.
Step 9. Throw old parts in trash bin and wipe grease off the LCA
Step 10. Put new LBJ assembly on the LCA
Step 11. Look up torque value for LBJ castle nut.
Step 12. Tighten LBJ to torque value from Step 11
    Step 13. Scratch ass
Step 14. Install CV axle and place spindle on LBJ assembly, put loctite on 4 LBJ bolts, install LBJ bolts
Step 15. Look up torque spec on LBJ bolts
Step 16. Torque LBJ bolts to spec from Step 15
Step 17. Pee out Coke from Step 7
Step 18. Reinstall CV axle nut and torque to value that I had to go look up.
Step 19. Reinstall wheel and torque 6 lug nuts to 83 lb/ft that I looked up in memory.
Step 20. Drop hi-lift and re-install hi-lift in bed of truck.

Two hours just went by. It was, very thoroughly, a Zen experience. ;)
