Asking questions doesn't make you a dumbass. It actually makes you smarter than 80% of the members on this site.

Nice thread here. Chiming in here own something. When I bought my taco in June 95, I drove into town and heads started turning. Most people said"why did you buy that Jap crap." All I could say was I had seen some toyotas and datsuns around that looked nasty with rust threw beds and 200,000 miles. I had american ford Ranger(dead at 100,000). Took a chance and I'm still rocking original motor, trans, transfer. I will drive jap crap the rest of my life. Also have sequoia, honda v-tec. No more american vehicles for me. I'm sure you older guys remember those days. Sorry if this has no bearing but,it's late and if you read to here ,it must have been worthy.

No I agree with you (although my truck was made in Mexico and the 2011 was made in Texas). I hate to say that I'll never buy another "American" brand but I after having issues with the last 3 "American" vehicles and the MASSIVE amount of depreciation I just refuse to do it. The big three have made big steps in the quality dept. but they really had no where to go but up. Am I saying the Tacoma is the best truck out there? Nope... But... It is the best truck for "me" and it fills my needs perfectly. Perfect balance of off road capability with comfort, utility, and size. And I'm probably one of the only one's that isn't screaming for a redesign and a new engine. I personally love how it looks and drives.

I too agree with you. I had a ford expedition and literally, I kid you not, I was in the service line at the dealership every other week. Something was always wrong with that piece of shit. Belt, gasket, belt, belt, belt, radiator, belt, I will never ever buy a ford ever again. Honestly the only American made car ill buy is Dodge. I used to have a 2012 Dodge Challenger and I LOVED it. The only reason I got rid of it was because insurance was through the roof. But I didn't have a single problem with the car. I got a 426 long block stroker, forged everything, put a 3.6LC Kennebell supercharger on it and ran 15 psi with a 8 ribbed belt, 168mm throttle body, 100lb injectors, 3 pump return style fuel pump, I could list everything but it would be a long paragraph but anyways I was running 850hp and 790-800 rwhp depending on the grip DAILY DRIVEN. Loved the car.

I'm on board.here is a vehicle history. Ford power stroke 6.0 Drove 15 miles to town. Went in store, came back after purchase, damn truck wouldn't start.(winter 15 deg). Had to call wrecker. 800.00. Pressure leak. The truck had 42,000!! Got back 4wd wouldn't engage. Same fuckin sensor,175.00. Had to go!! Lost 3000. Bucks in6 months. Lucky for me I still had tacoma that I can work on if I ever would have to. GMC Denali. 67000 used, purchased. 3 months into vehicle 4 wheel steer went south.2500 to fix. Blinking dash lights=340.00 to locate. Had enough again. Lost more money to get rid of. Only worst investment was my 30,000 boat . Edie bauer exploder(lost money) Always would say to myself, tacoma never did this dumb shit to me. Tahoe. Nothing but elec. problems. My only problem with toyota has been rusty frames. But that wont usually hurt you for 15 yrs. into veh. life.Pontiac grand prix,blazer,f-250. Always depreciate faster than you can pay for them. I have a Sequia that's worth more than I owe. I hate being stranded, so I guess I will stick with toyota. Resale value is always good after couple of trouble free yrs.I know our vehicles are made with parts from everywhere but, I,m still driving a 96 toyota! And to me, toyota is the best small truck available.
