Nice job Ivan! I forgot to tell you I have a few different metric helicoils, but sounds like you still had plenty of meat to run a tap through. It's so satisfying to chase threads and get them super smooth :p

I have a bunch of plastic tube caps like I used on the roof and front bumper, but I may weld on some plugs. Haven't decided yet. Or I could always weld on a plug with a captured nut for future mods!

Ok... A Burr file is barbaric. But welding a new nut would be replacing those old broken damaged threads with brand new ones,

I'm cutting these to use with the stock sticker. Let me know the size of the trd off road sticker. I play when I have lunch, bored at work, etc.. the trd sport (if you look at it as a square) is 16.5x4.
If i want the heavy duty reflective that i have sitting around, I gotta cut it personally. I may try to cut my sticker #1 option tomorrow.. See if my oahu outline will read in program.

It all depends on what you are looking for, and how much you want to spend. I go to motosource on McCully.
They sell Yamaha (jog) style clones, for the two strokes and also some 4 strokes. They specialize in the minarelli engines, and have done a few for me. They just did my brothers aprilia, runs really well. Chad (mechanic there) does good work.

I run a rexy, clone of a Yamaha axis. The sym dd50 is a popular honda clone. I'd stay away from the Chinese mopeds. They're disposable crap. Riding it back to back against the rexy, I could feel the frame flexing and the handle bars moving forward and back. Cheaply made, all around. Don't know why, but Taiwanese ones are better quality.

Burr filing is an art, need a steady hand and patience :p

You'd be surprised how well it works on some of my jobs. I just hate the mess it makes when its done.

I'd rather buy a used moped, and put the saved money into parts for it. That's a pretty scary stretch of road into Campbell. Big trucks speeding the whole way in. A stock moped does 30-35, derestricted maybe 40. I'd suggest upgrading to a 70cc sport bore. Depending on the type/quality and additional parts, should go 50-60. There are racier style 70cc kits, but they need to rev high, so stop and go commuting isn't that great.

I ride mine to work to save me $70 a month in parking, and to keep my truck from baking in the sun all day. I have the SMC Rexy that motosource sells. Had them replace the 50cc motor with a 96cc one. It's a stock motor, not sport or race, but it's torquey and great for commuting. Good power off the line and enough power to keep up with traffic. It has the stock carb, just a muffler added. Topped it out at 62 mph. Going to put a a bigger bore to bring it up to 103cc and upgrade the carb later.
So I'd recommend a rexy (Yamaha/minarelli) or a sym dd50 (Honda) clone. You can go as fast as your wallet allows, but whatever you get, be sure to lock it to something. These things tend to disappear..
