the smaller fogs on the 2012's + are much better, they have a good light cut off and spread light very wide and close to the vehicle.

Definitely fills the hole of light close to the vehicle when high beams are on.

The fog lights on my 08 are great. I think the most important thing is keeping them clean AND using high quality bulbs.

SO with the 4 wires on the fog relay, can you still close up the lid on the relay box?

I wonder if it will work on the older model like 05-11 , i have an 09 TRD.
This looks like a good way to go, unfortunately cant check or do anything on my truck at the moment since its on the shop for repairs.

Any one have done this on there 05-11 model? if so any pics? Thanks

Same thing can be applied to any model of taco, either pulling off the EFI relay or AC relay.

So I just completed this mod myself, and it works great! Had a bit of an issue as I the female connectors that didnt have the rub covering and my hook up wire was a bit stiff and too long. But wrapped the female connectors with electrical tape and managed to get the wires bent to fit in the box. I have heated leather seats so I had an extra relay in the box to work around.

Great mod info and pics, I am very pleased with it. Will be even better once I get my amber fog bulbs.

    Very Nice Instructions!!!!

I have a 2014 Standard Cab - Not Pre Wired
Can I do this mod WITHOUT a "fog light switch"?
Just have the fog lights ON with HIGH head lights?

    you could yes.

simply ground out one side of the relay switch (this is what the factory dash switch does, it is a switched ground), and take the brown wire in my original post and connect it to the high beam pin of the DIM relay. (i dont have the wiring diagram in front of me otherwise i could give you an exact pin location)

You could also move the brown wire to the output of the HEAD relay to have the fogs come on when headlights are on regardless of high or low beam.

    Thank you for your reply

    Thats what I'm gonna do!!!!

Just have to decide if I want them on with LOW = Driving Lights

Or with HIGH + Fog / Flood Lights

like stated you could pull off the HEAD relay and have the fogs on anytime the control stick on the steering wheel is turned to headlights. So they will be on regardless of high or low beam.

But honestly i would run a dedicated switch so you can turn them on whenever you wish regardless of headlights. And in that case do the mod depicted in the OP then on the ground for the relay put an inline switch so you are switching the ground (just like the stock setup)

This is targeted at the OP as you seem to have some decent wiring knowledge.

My GF has a 2013 RAV4 and would like to have her fog lights on whenever she pushes the button. Would her RAV4 have the same relay for fogs as the Tacoma? If so would I be able to run a jumper from the same pin on the relay to a 12v source that is on with the ignition?

If anyone else has some info on this, please jump on in.

    Thanks

I dont see why not. You got a pic of the main relay / fuse box under the hood? The best would be the toyota wiring diagram. next best would be finding the relay, unplugging it and doing a lil probing with a multimeter.

So, leave it to me to be the first person to have difficulty with this. At least some difficulty. I've done the mod, no issues there. However, the fog lights do not remain on all of the time. I am sure that the switch is in the on position. Sometimes they work, most times not. It's almost like there's a loose connection but I don't know where it could be.

    Any ideas?

I have a 2012 DCLB 4x4 Sport. My setup looks just like ND4's. Thanks in advance.
