don't recommend satoshi grille mod

for those of you who want to do it...don't. Just pay somebody else to, or just buy a grillcraft and mount it on the front like you're supposed to.

sort of. I started monday at 6pm and it is now wednesday 1:20am and i'm STILL not done. I spilled some epoxy on the freshly painted inside part of the grill and I stupidly tried to get it off with acetone. ya. and there were many more mistakes made...didn't apply the Bondo evenly, I didn't have a dremel (if you don't have a dremel seriously don't do this mod) I had to hacksaw off all the plastic...ugh!

 

oh...ha. well. the mod was too hard for something that most people won't appreciate when they see.

Hopefully this was done on an extra grille and not your only one...

 

it was done on my only one. but I just put everything together about 30 sec. ago and it looks like sex! I just have to do some small finishing touches...the epoxy fiasco, I'm going to epoxy the screws holding the grill in place and paint the rods holding the screws holding the grill...and then pictures!

 

Awesome! Everything turns out good in the end!

 

not to sound like a complete dick,bc thats not the way i am
but if you just take your time and follow the instructions step by step, anyone can do the satoshi with the right tools,patience, and time set aside. I really hope you get your grill finished. It is well worth the time and effort you put into them.

 

I started mine last saturday

it's much longer than you think (well the first time) and it's not easy.

I'm waiting to see if the final results are ok before saying to others to do it or not.

 

just remember to sand , sand, and more sanding. results will be based on your sanding.

ah - therein lies the problem! PATIENCE and the right TOOLS to do the job! What novel concepts!

Also, Harbor Freight FTW! Those Pittsburg Steel socket sets are awesome to have around, and you can pick up like 5 sets for one snap on, and so far they seem just as durable to me.

 

well...okay. do the mod. I'm not stopping you, that first post was sort of a vent because I was pissed at all the things going wrong at the moment. But now that I'm done, it looks sick and I can have the satisfaction of saying that I did the Satoshi grille mod. And if you have all the TOOLS then do it! it's just hard. haha
