I wouldn't suggest it. Go with the BHLM instead.

Finished result should look something like this:

I did. Paint chips easily. One of these days I may take it off, sand it with a brillo pad to roughen it up a little, and do 3 coats Krylon Fusion black and 2-3 coats of clear.

The blacked out tail light Look nice but Please don't drive around in the bright sun with them, they dim your brake lights!!!!!!

I darn near rear ended a toy car the other day because of their "Blacked out" tail light!!!
Could not see the lights (turn or brake) with the bright sun.

I have read every posting in the thread. This is my first time doing any type of painting to my Taco and I want it to be a smooth process! LOL...I have a few questions first off:

    1. What is wet sanding?
    2. What name brand is the best clear coating that works?
    3. What grit paper do I use for each process and when do I use them? Before/After?
    4. Do you sand inbetween coats of VHT?
    5. Do you sand inbetween coats of clear coat?
    6. I see people used rubbing compound...For what?
    7. I see people buffed these? When do you buff the lenses?

Now for the process....here is how I perceive the process to go...

    1. Sand the tail lights until the DOT lettering is gone.
    2. Clean throughly!
    3. Spray a coat of VHT Night Shade on.
    4. Wait 20-30 Minutes between coats. (Usually 3 coats is good)
    5. Wait 2 hours before applying clear coat.
    6. Spray on clear coat. (Usually 3 coats is good)

I am not knocking this threat at all.......but I have read almost ever post on here and ever MOD is indepth, step by step, and very through. maybe its just me being paranoid of screwing up, but if everyone could just give me there input and I will type up a fool proof step list and post it. please don't take this the wrong way, I just want to make this easy MOD, even easier...if that makes sense! Thanks a lot to all you fellow Tacoma Members out there!

I do alot of these but I put a little bit of black paint depending on how dark someone wants them, and mix it in with the clear coat, use 800 or 1000 grit and just spray the clear with the black paint mixed in, comes out perfect everytime, but then again im using a actual paint gun and not spray can

Yeah i used the nightshade stuff, bout 5 coats worth;) but i didnt know that sanding them made them shiny. is it too late to sand them or is there still hope of making them shinier?

all you have to do is make sure you aply a good enough coat and you will get the shiny look to them. if you dont it gives it that faded look
