I am wanting to level my 2011 TRD Offroad 4x4. After doing my research, I decided to go with the bilstein 5100 set at .85 with stock springs. I found one post that said you cant use the 5100's with the offroad springs because they are progressive. Is this a fact? And if you can use them, what setting due to the stiffness of the springs. Gonna use stock 16 inch wheels. Last question is what size tire can I run, without trimming, with this setup? Looked for hours and cant find the answer specific to the Offroad package. Has factory bumpers and no winch. Thanks for any help. New member, first post

Bilstein 5100's set at 1.75" on stock TRD OR coils up front, Wheelers 3 Leaf HD Progressive AAL w/Bilstein 5100's out back
You can run the stock TRD Off Road coil springs on the 5100's. Some people don't because of the spring being progressive, meaning that as you increase preload on the spring, the spring rate will increase. This just means that the more you preload it, the stiffer your ride will be.

From all of my searching, I've found that most who use the stock TRD OR coils don't go over 1.75" on the 5100's. The ones that have it there say it is stiffer than stock, but they like the change. I've got a set of 5100's that I'm installing tomorrow with my TRD OR coils. Going to set them at 1.75" and install a Wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL.

Also, being that you are only going to set them at .85", I think you will be fine. I can't imagine you will notice a huge difference with that small amount of preload.

.85" won't be that bad. A little stiffer than it is now. I've had them at 2.5" on offroad springs and it is pretty rough.

265/75-16 will fit. A bigger size may fit at .85", but I'm not sure.

With the stiffer OR springs, setting at .85 should make it level or pretty close? Not doing anything to the rear right now. And thanks for y'alls reply

Moondeath. Awesome set up. Thats the look im going for. See you have the sport which is the linear springs. Just trying to figure out if I can get the same look with the stiffer springs at .85. If the front sits too high at 1.75 I could always add a leaf later I guess. How is your ball joint and tie rods / front axle angles at 1.75?

Put a floor jack under the front of the truck....
Lift 1", look at how it sits and decide if the .85 setting will work for you.

By "lift" I mean unload the suspension 1"...... Not get the tires off the ground 1".

Simply measure from the bottom of fender flare to the center cap while the truck is not raised, then raise with the jack until u can measure out a difference of 1"

The stiffness isn't really going to affect the height, more so the comfort level. .85" setting will be the pretty much the same, OR or sport. The offroad has the 2+1 rear leaf, which is why .85" would be close to level. The sport has 3+1 rear which makes it a little higher in the rear, which is why the sport uses 1.75" to level.

Thanks. Again, 1.75" will most likely have you pretty nose high, unless your truck has the rear leaf TSB already done to it. I would just measure your front and compare it to the back to get an idea of how different they are. The bilstein 5100's are pretty accurate with their lift settings. Example: .85" setting =.85" of lift, and so on.

As for angles, 1.75" isn't bad. 2.5" and above you can start having vibration issues and start wearing on parts.

I just finished installing my 5100's on 1.75" and the Wheelers 3 leaf HD progressive AAL. I left the overload in the rear too. Let me tell you, the ride is hands down better than factory, I would not call it stiff at all. I feels less bumps than I did before. Best decision I've made for my truck!! Do it, you will not regret it!

The sport and off road shared the same 3 leaf pack for many years, so this may not be accurate for the OP.

Only recently did the sport get a 4 leaf.

And that's not accurate for anyone with the tsb on an older truck because the tsb gave a 4 leaf to either model. Also anyone with a Canadian model has had 4 leaf pack since 2005

Thanks guys. I have three stock leafs in the rear. Done the measurement and the front is 1.5 inches lower than the rear. Guess I may change up my plans and go 1.75 on the 5100's and maybe an AAL. Be able to get a little taller tire

One last question. If I go with the 5100's, would it be better to get an aftermarket coil to possibly give it a better ride and if so what kind? Again, just looking to level truck and maybe one inch lift above level with ride quality being #1. Want bigger tires but not attempting 33 at this time. Lift with ride comfort at an affordable price. Thanks again for all the replies

I have an ARB/winch with the progressive TRD springs. My 5100s are on the 1.75" level and I think it's perfect.

So the solution is, buy a heavy bumper ;)

Lol. How does the ride compare before and after suspension mods. If the same or close, im sold. I have no heavy bumper but if it sits a little high in the front, no problem. Too much then AAL . Looking for 265/75/16 on the stock wheels for now

OP is talking about the offroad. I had a 2011 offroad prior to my sport, that why I said 1.75" might be high. The 2011 offroad has the 2+1 rear, unless a TSB was done. I'm not sure I know what you mean by 'it may not be accurate for the OP'.

Dude this crap been driving me crazy. Want to do it right the first time. I see you have the Sport. They have linear coils. The OR has progressive coils. From all my research, I think you will be ok as well as me. The progressive coils may give me a little stiffer ride but I'm good as long as it dont ride like my jeep.lol

That's the size tires I run.

Mine rides just fine, the heavy bumper made the front end soft, so I actually needed a stiffer spring rate.

If you're stock otherwise, I would recommend the .85" position on the shocks and call it a day. The 1.75 is going to be too much for an unmodified rear and it'll look goofy.
