He is referring to me good sir :) That trail broke my shit big time.

I may have to hit some ghost-town and old mine sites along the Salt River on my way up for this upcoming trip :D

whenever your ready man, i am ready!

i know this other awesome trail, its super cool and scenic, but i dont think many people would take their truck on it. the hard section is only like 100 feet but i almost flopped it twice. but your short wheel base will make it a little easier. i had to use my sliders big time, both sides, front to back, because of the longer wheel base haha.

i live right by the salt river, i havent heard of any of these.....

i live by the lower salt by saguaro lake, are you talling about the upper salt?

Yep same basic hike. You have to cross the salt river too. (No bridge or anything its wading shoulder depth ) its sweet to get down to tho. Its a big freaking pool with rock jumps off the entire circle of it. The long hike out straight up sucks cause you are usually drunk and dehydrated coming out. I did the highest jump last year called cactus ass its about 78'

Its fucking awesome. We usually do it every August. Last year a friend fractured is ankle and wouldn't hike out. So a couple people waited with him down there while i hiked out and drove 40 miles to show low to get service to call the paramedics to go get him. They had to carry him out on a stretcher and air avaked his pussy ass down to phx.And got everyone with him tickets for trespassing.

You want to go in the summer when its warmer otherwise you are freezing all day and no one goes in the water. It is a trail but its on the reservation so you need a hiking license to go. I think everyone got ticketed cause all the guys were pissed they had to hike out carrying the jack off that wouldn't man up. Plus not all of them had hiking licenses on them so im sure that played into aswell.

There's a ton of old mines all along the southern wall of the Salt River Canyon, near the highway between Globe and Show Low. Most of them are chrysotile (asbestos) mines, so gotta bring dust masks and what-not. Some of them are pretty big inside.

That was back in the days when Asbestos was still widely used as insulation in buildings and houses, before it was discovered that it was carcinogenic  But yeah it doesn't stop me either.. Because JeepAndrew
