looks like tundra ran stock wheels and tires. maybe with grippier tires it would have been a better race.

How much slop do you guys have in your steering?

My steering wheel is able to be turned about 1/2'' to 3/4'' in either direction from center without having output at the wheel.

It's really not noticeable on city streets but on the freeway it feels like I'm driving a boat.

The other half of this question is how much slop in a tie rod end is acceptable? If I detect any slop what so ever should I be looking at replacing? The inners that I have on the truck are less than a year old and already have a detectable amount of slop in them.

If I put the truck on jackstands, I can move the tire with the sloppy tie rod about 2mm back and forth and I can directly attribute that to the tie rod.

I have replaced the rack (albeit with a used one, but it was low miles) and done the zip tie on the steering shaft mod.

It's definitely not the wheel bearings; recently replaced. I can see the play in the inner heim on the tie rod (heim steering) so I know some of it is there; I just don't think it's enough to account for all the slop in the steering.

    Oh man! That was fun!

Ok, so ya, the Tundra Off the line was gold. The stock wheels tires made it faster off the line, But killed our top end. The governer was not removed and it would'nt push past 95 mph. That's why the Tremor caught it. The Tremor with a good start would be 12's, same with Tundra if it could get over 95.

There will be a round 2!

    ...too much shit to list.
I'm pretty sure they meant stock other than safety requirements. Cage and fuel cell obviously fall under safety.

My passenger tie rod end grenaded itself, boot ripped and all grease was lost, it has so much slop, bumps and stuff pull my wheel bad and throw me around my lane

Looks like it's spring under in the rear. Pretty sure it's the same one with no bumps in the rear and chains for straps haha

Long Beach Racer's, guys who built that Tacoma, are now building a 6100 Trophy Truck Spec Class Truck with 5.7L iForce, using a Brenthel Chassis I think.
