Lovin' my new Truetrac

Just wanted to report out that I have installed a Detroit Truetrac on my 08 SR5 Prerunner. What a difference makes driving the thing fun! Also helps with the U-turns through the median when the highway backs up.

Bought it from 4 wheelparts and my local Toyota dealership installed.

 

Congrats, Auto-lockers can rock Instantly turns a low traction vehicle into a monster.

 

The dealership installed it . I didn't think they would install anything that wasn't manufactured by Toyota or TRD?

Got a cool service rep....Ok'd my TSB no problem and gave me no hassle about the after market LSD.

$550 for the LSD w/ lifetime replacement .
$410 for Toyota dealership to install, fluids, and new gasket.

Saved up some cash for a few months but worth it.

does it click and kinda chirp the tires when you turn on the street? I've had experience with a detroit locker, but not the truetrac. this could be an option for me cuz I really don't want to spend the $ for a ARB and OBA, etc...

 

My choice for Auto-locker was the powertrax no-slip because it was an almost instant lock and unlock when you needed it.

Even if that were true, it would be just as good as a locker.

LOL, yeah if the driver is a jackass ass, all the equipment in the world won't help you. Just look at the "Jeeps Failing thread". Most of those pics are of retards getting stuck in perfectly capable vehicles.

How does the TrueTrac compare to Auto LSD that's standsrd on our 2nd gens?

The ALSD does quite well for snow and ice on the road. My concern is offroad where the ALSD function requires a certain amount of wheel spin to engage and put power to the other wheel. This excess wheel spin can slow your forward motion and eventually stop you because of the delay of ALSD. This is also a huge hinderence on steep inclines or hills. I'm looking to resolve this.

Does the TrueTrac work instantly all the time so I can keep my forward speed in mud or snow, or does it require wheels spin to lock up? I know the TrueTrac isn't a full locker, but how would it stack up on steep inclines or gravel hills?
