I have been wanting to get a 3" Lift on my 08 Tacoma PreRunner DC. I was wondering if anyone new of a dealership in San Antonio that would install a lift? Either, I could buy it from toytec and have the dealer install it or I would buy it through the dealership. Any feedback would help.

any toyota dealership should do it for you, any shop should do it aswell, its fairly basic to do from what I have been told, all you need is the tools and the time.

I have seen quite a few lifted trucks come from Red McCombs. They have a fox C/Os kit but I would imagine you will be spending in the 2500+ range when it is all set and done. You also wont gain anything by having the dealer install your lift.

Do some extensive research and figure out exactly what kind of lift you want. Then go talk to the guys over at Anthony's Planet Pickup. Great service and quality techs, + they stand by their work. You'll save your self an arm and a leg by doing this.

Would it be good to have it installed at a dealership, just because if anything goes wrong, you can blame it on them, so they have to cover it?

That was my thinking. I am sure that I could install it myself but I was thinking that if the dealer does it they have to stand by it..but I know that they would probably be more expensive.

just make sure you read the fine print to see what the dealer says about them breaking stuff on accident or warranty stuff. some stealerships will try to rip you a new one, so make sure you bring the vaseline

Yeah, that's what I'm worrying about. I'll thoroughly go through the fine print before I do anything. Thanks Gotlift. :)

I doubt they will warranty parts from the kit...and they may not cover wear/damage from installing the kit should it happen. So they will warranty labor only I would think...and you are going to pay an arm and a leg for that.

You'd be better off getting quality product and installing yourself (or with help) or paying a specialty shop to do it. It'll probably come out cheaper and be a better lift.

Lots of "dealer lifted" trucks I've seen are $800 for a 3 inch spacer and block lift...

So, I called the dealership where I bought the truck and they were actually pretty helpful. They would install a 3" lift for $726, so Brunes was about right on the price and it will also be a spacer lift (not sure if I want that). However, they also offered to order the tires/wheels that I wanted and match the price I had found at another tire shop. So, for the 3" spacer lift, tires (285-70-17 Nitto's), wheels (Moto Metal 955's black), and alignment he quoted me $2,200. What do you all think?

    DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can get a spacer lift with an AAL from Toytec for $230.00...Installed will probably cost another 150.00 or so at an offorad shop.

And then go where you found that original deal on the tires and you are still better off....or shop around (www.mrwheeldeal.com is a place to start)

yeah the dealers around here (tempe, arizona) seem to typically put spacers on and charge a stupid high price.

i found out that several dealers here actually use a 3rd party to install the lifts for them (rim1) and tires/wheel. another reason maybe why their markup and price is high.

i went to that 3rd party out of curiosity, and his price was half the price of getting the same work through the dealer. i asked him why he put spaces on (vs suspension) and he said because they sell easier for modded new trucks (at the dealer).
