I am planning on getting my windows tinted within the next month. I was planning on getting 20% in the back and 35% for the drive and passenger door. Do you guys think this is going to look funny? I can kinda picture it in my head. If anyone has something close that on there DC can you post a picture. In CT the legal limit it 35% which is why I am not going to go darker on the front but the back I would like to be a little darker. Also don't want to go to dark where backing in at night is a pain in the ass. Any thoughts or pictures?
    Thanks in advance

That's the same thing I did, factory rears were 20% (according to the tint shop) 35% is the legal limit here as well. You can hardly tell the difference at all, looks fine.

I haven't done window tints on my Tacoma. When it comes to other vehicles I have owned, I did limo tint on the back and just the shade under limo on the fronts(I don't know what the percentage is). If the shades are close and there being a small difference then the front and the back, it's going to be fine. I wouldn't have limo on the back and then a shade of purple on the front, that to me would look funny.

I did the same thing, but if you get 35% on the front you will still be illegal because the factory window does not allow 100% of the light to go through. By getting 35% tint, you will probably end up with about a 32% tint and you will still get a ticket (based on previous experience).

When it comes to this I find that cops are only going to do anything if you are pulled over for another offence or the cop was having a bad day. I've had front tinting on vehicles from 2005-2011(one car was 4 years that I owned it) and I have never been pulled over(any tint on front windows is illegal in Canada). I also don't drive like a tool either. I've had friends that couldn't go a couple of weeks after getting front window tints done that they got a ticket. He had told me that "he was also speeding" at the time he was pulled over. So really there is going to that variable if the OP is going to get a ticket or not. I just think it's more likely if they don't drive accordingly.

Yea that is still close to what I am shooting for and if they test and see it is off by less than 5% im hoping they don't care that much.

I am just trying to give a ton of reason to be pulled over. I would rather him pull me over for speeding and see that the front tint is still close to legal limit.

It looks better than a lighter tint like 35% all around IMO. You're allowed having the backs as dark as you want so you might as well. Mine rears are 5% I think and 35% front.

I agree it looks better I just don't want to give a ton of reason to get pulled over. My friend the other day has 20% all windows and was stopped. He was basically told to remove it and if he gets caught again he will be cited. Only if that officer stop him. I don't know if he was speeding or what not but he was in an area known for being strict with rules. My friends and i typical try to avoid that area anyway.

"Tints" makes me want to scream.

I like 20% for the fronts only. The last one had 20% over the oem, and 5% up front.

20 on top of 25 (privacy glass) roughly comes out to limo or 5% on the backs
    With fronts at 35 iirc
    This is at 1 angle

    cimg0529i_801be9d86d8dc63de6d539a5c4f12bdd42aa5652.jpg

And at a different angle...... The sun can play tricks on the reflective properties. I know its not a double cab, but hope it helps.

Also keep in mind that going too dark on the front can make it hard to use ur mirrors at night while merging with traffic. My buddy owns a shop and I've seen people (with Tacoma's) come back to get lighter side tint after he already warned them prior to installing a super dark film days before. They complained the mirrors were indeed harder to use.

During the day tints are great in the front. At night time they can be dangerous when backing when you don't have a back up camera.

I have an access cab...with 5% tint in the back/rear windows, windshield sun strip, and 35% up front. Looks fine to me.

Mine are 20% on the front to match the the rear. I am OCD and cant stand the mismatch. I also put 70% across the windshield, should have gone 50%. Vegas sun is brutal.

I had a layer of 18% put over the factory tint on the back and 18% on the fronts. And wish I would have gone a little darker.

My question to you guys. When everyone says they got "20% on the front, etc".... do you mean you put 20% film on top of the already 70%? window, thus making it 14%.... Or do you mean the total tint is now at 20% (ie ~30% on top of 70% window)???

There is no tint on the front. If they say '20% on the front', they literally got 20% film put on the front.
