I can't say if it rusts quicker than the stock one. My stock exhaust has been hanging in my garage since the day I bought it.. I did replace it under warranty but I work for an auto parts store..I'm pretty sure it has a lifetime warranty..

Just putting my 2 cents in. But almost all exhaust companies out there, their stainless exhaust is going to get surface rust. I manage an Auto Parts Store and see this all the time. Surface rust isn't going to hurt anything, as long as it doesn't rot out who cares....and if it does most companies honor a lifetime warranty if it rots out, but not against surface rust. Atleast that's the way that magnaflow and dynomax work their warranty.

I'd leave it, they all rust. If it rusts through, they'll replace it.

If I buy this, I may opt to have the longer ultra flo muffler instead of the included one. I think you'll get drone if not(read some threads about some guy getting drones around 1300 RPMs). Link to longer muffler:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-17513/overview/

Or I may just buy new pipe and then get a at2525xl, which won't give me any problems I think or keep my stock pipe with an at2525xl, but I have to assess how badly rusted it is

Just ordered it. Going to paint it black when I get it with engine paint to help prevent the rusting from all the damn salt.

um.. i hate to crush your dreams.. but its illegal in MD to modify your exhaust period.... not likely to get a ticket but you know how inspections are..... an there's an 85DB limit too.... fund that out when i was looking at exhausts

Yeah, it's a shame for the aftermarket industry. That right there is just killing jobs for ppl. No offense to anyone, but damn tree huggers with there b.s. I manage an Auto Parts Store/Speed and Offroad Shop and you should she the amount of parts that "aren't legal for sale in California"

409 stainless will develop surface rust in wet/salty climates rather quickly, but it will take many many years for it to rust through. 304 stainless, such as the premium offerings from Corsa, MBRP, Borla, etc. will be much more resistant to rust and corrosion and will not develop much in the way of surface rust under normal circumstances. You also want to pay attention to whether or not the muffler is stainless inside AND out. Stainless tubing is great, but pretty useless if the muffler core and/or acoustical fill is crap.

I ran straight pipes on my old rig.

I was running down greenbelt rd last year and woke a sleeping cop in a parking lot. I watched him try to get through traffic to catch me for about 10 minutes. He pulled me over and said that I 'scared the shit out of him because he though I was a low-flying plane"... I got a ticket...

I put this system on my truck 3 yrs ago, found it droned too much. So I welded in an 18 inch glass pack and it sounds really good! I put the glass pack in just behind where it mounts to the y pipe, made a night and day difference
