Almost done. just need quick help.

Ok yall I got the Pioneer Premier DEH-P510UB in the mail yesterday with all the wires etc.Everything is wired except a few wires. I just need help as to where they go.

Here is what is not connected:

Wiring harness that plugs into FACTORY harness:
1. Solid Blue (instructions state its for the Power Antenna.
2. Solid Black (chassis ground)


Wiring harness that plugs into the back of the PIONEER UNIT:
1. Solid black with a connector on the end. (Chassis ground)
2. Yellow and black- Quote from instructions: " If you use an equipment with Mute Function, wire this lead to the Auto Mute lead on that equipment. If not, keep the Audio Mute lead free of any connections."
3. Blue and White with a female connector.( Connect to system control terminal of the power amp or auto-antenna relay control terminal (max. 300 mA 12 v DC)

Can I take the connector off of the black wire from the Pionner harness and just connect the black wires from each harness together?

 

I don't know why it wouldn't work. And the blue is for the remote turn on for an amp/amps if you have them.

 

Everything is stock except for this new cd player. So since I dont have an amp I just dont need to use that wire? Is the blue wire on the factory harness and the blue/white wire on the pioneer harness the same thing?

 

Connect the blacks together. The yellow/black is for a mute (you probably don't need unless you have an external bluetooth or similar) and the solid blue is power antenna (you also don't need). A blue/white would be for the remote turn on. If you had aftermarket amps you would run the blue/white to them.

If you have a tacoma with non JBL, just connect the blacks together and tape off the solid blue and yellow/black and that should do you.

 

x2 its very simple to hook up a deck just match the colors, our trucks dont have power antennas so just tape up that wire, and the black you can cut the end off of the harness that came with your deck and wire it into the harness you bought.

 

Tape off the orange wire too!!! NEVER use the dimmer (illumination) wire. Installed properly it can STILL fry your dimmer switch. Those are around 150 bucks new. No Dimmer, no interior lights.

 

for real? I have used the dimmer in every vehicle I have installed and they work fine, never had this happen before.

 

Thanks guys. Now I'm at the hard part (for me anyways). I have to get the clock and hazzard light switch out of the stock radio dash. I got the bottom loose but I've tried for 30 minutes to get the top part of it loose.

The original unit isn't easy to take pictures of since the factory stereo is in it, but the original unit is setup the exact same way. Notice, in the picture below, the two screws connected to the dash piece. Just below these screws are plastic snap tabs. There are two more on the bottom side of the unit. The easiest way to remove this unit from the original dash application is to place a small flat screwdriver in-between the unit and the snap and pry up gently. Be careful not to break any of the plastic parts!!!

Just check the voltage if you have a multi meter. It could be 1-6 volts. I have mine hooked up to my eclipse 726e with no problems. And in my old tacoma I had it hooked up to my Alpine IVAW404.

I think people confuse the dimmer with the illumination. With the orange wire hooked up, all that happens is your unit will dim when you turn on your headlights. It wont dim with the interior dimmer switch.

Correct. Just pull down the bottom piece of the factory radio and push the clock/hazard unit out the back. It takes some force but it will come out. You could also gain some leverage with a flathead screwdriver. Just don't he-man it.


EDIT:What I have always done, is hold the radio upright so you are looking at the back. Pry down, with your thumbs, on the very bottom of the radio and push the clock/hazard out the back with your fingers from the other side.

 

Got it guys. Thanks for helpin me out. I've never been good this kinda stuff. Workin on engines is my area of skill lol.

 

Everythings installed. This cdplayer puts out an amazing sound (in my opinion). I dont even need aftermarket speakers now. Glad i didnt buy everything at once!

 

Way to go. The factory speakers do ok with some power behind them.
