it seems that a first gen with the 2.7L, 4WD is starting to become harder to find in the market. is anyone experiencing this?

Yep....I looked in the South East for 2 months before I found a decent "STOCK" single cab 4X4 2.7 I drove around 350 miles one way to get it and paid top dollar for a 1999 with 140,000 miles 2 owner and it has been well taken care of.

    It's a nice one....

That's nice! What first gen years are the best? The nearest ones I can find from Sacramento is all the way in LA.

Yes they made V6 single cabs for 95.5-97. The trim level was called SX

Yes. I have seen one. 3.4, 5spd, 4x4. I wanna say it was a 97. Had a vinyl bench seat, not a real plush trim level, but was a V6.

It took me about 8 months to find a 2.7 4x4. Worth the wait. I love it.

Toyota made regular cab V6 4X4s from 1995.5 to 1997, I believe. One of my BFFs just happens to have one with a 5-speed. I have been the driver and passenger many times and it is barely faster than a 4 cylinder, and I mean BARELY.
