So, my new 2013 Tacoma radio with Nav and Premium sound doesn't like to stay working. It didn't do this during the test drive, but it happened a couple of times when I drove it home. I've taken it to my local dealer and they replaced the Head Unit. I didn't lose any of my settings, addresses, or Bluetooth phone pairings which I thought was odd, but whatever. When I went to pick it up (after the new unit was installed) it did the exact same thing, right there in the parking lot. Of course not when the mechanic could see it.

Anyways, I was finally able to get a video of it happening so I posted it up.

Any thoughts or ideas? I just sent the video over to the service manager at the dealership. He said he's going to share it with Toyota (corporate?) to figure out what the fix is. The whole thing started with less than 100 miles on the truck and I've still only got 600. :(

The dealer is ordering another part to install. This morning it rebooted when my wife got out and shut the door. Makes me think its just some loose connection somewhere in there. /shrugs

Dang man, Sorry to see that,

I hope they get it sorted out for you,

I am curious if the 2014 models will have the same audio unit.

It's the baja. The radio gets altitude sickness and has to puke once in a while :p

On a serious note, hope you get it worked out. I agree it sounds like a loose ground somewhere.

The extension module fixed it right up. :) Been driving it for a week now and haven't had that issue again. I've also noticed a little better performance with the Bluetooth in general.

Driving my new truck 1200 miles home, and several times, the system froze and had to reboot. Usually when starting the morning drive. Like every 5 minutes, buttons would not respond, and the unit would be stuck doing whatever it was doing, whatever music it was playing, etc. Usually freezing coincided with using navigation. Sometimes had to turn truck off, other times, could hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds and system rebooted. I would say this happened bout 8 times over two days. Again, usually at start of day. Had to wait about 30 min each time for the unit to work as it should.

Tried to determine which entune version I am running, but the descriptions listed for 2012-2013 versions dont get to same screen on mine. In fact, cannot find entune version anywhere in settings or otherwise.

Anyone know where to figure out what entune version is running on a 2014?

Anyone else having freezing problems with 2014 Entune Premium (non JBL)?

Cant tell, but seems to correspond to ipod use.

    Thank you

I have the same problem with the Head Unit rebooting. Shows Toyota Splash Screen. Reboots are Random and sometime more often than other times. Normally using Pandora. Taken to Dealer 2 times. First time, they could not find problem or reproduce the issue. Second time dealer updated firmware, but did not resolve the annoying reboot. Third time, in the shop now. Not sure what to do. Hoping they will see a pattern with other reports and have a solution. This seems to be a common problem.

To the OP. What is this module that they ordered? And is it still working well for you. I have a 13 and have had this issue. I updated the software version and seemed to fix it but now lately it has come back. It like the other posters it is totally locked up until you restart the truck.

I have the Entune Plus in my 2014 DCLB I picked up yesterday and it stopped working this morning, won't even turn on, play, or display anything. I checked the 2 fuses assigned to it and they appeared to be fine. I am trying to figure out if there is another fuse assigned to the backup camera that may be causing an issue but haven't seen one.

Verizon gs4 since kitkat update I noticed the messages won't sync so I tried to and each time the system reboots. Also when on Bluetooth calls or during google play random radio restarts. Had my truck maybe a month about 500 miles.

Not sure what I can do. May test with wife's iPhone and see if that happens still

Seems to be a problem for a while reading these forums

Just had the 'extension module' replaced on my 2012. My issues were slightly different in that the apps, navigation, and another screen became distorted - well, not so much distorted but that the colors did not render properly. I too also had issues though with random reboots and the system no longer connecting with my phone for internet (iPhone 4s).

This all started about 3 weeks ago when my phone failed to connect to internet (worked fine for music/phone connections). My phone is setup to bluetooth or usb cable tether to the system for wireless data. Reboots started randomly, then the screens became distorted.

The extension module (whatever it is) did fix the screen issue. However, within a mile from the dealership the system rebooted once (when trying to reconnect my phone for internet). On the second try it connected successfully and worked fine the remainder of the drive.

Still up in the air if it was really fixed or not.

Edit...well the screen now looks like it should but i am getting reboots and failed internet connections with phone. Not fixed. Software version 3.2.0 NavID 20110502

My '14 is doing this. Actually about a dozen times last night alone. Would definitely be interested in what the module was. The '14 HU does look different from your '13. Mine is the NAV non-JBL. I am going to check the ground on mine. I bought an Alpine Power Pack to put in mine and the local audio shop told me to make sure to use a different ground than the HU ground because they have seen issues with it. Who knows, but its worth a look.

Took mine to the dealer and had them do a software update to the HU. At first I got a little resistance, but I pushed and they DO have paperwork relating to this issue that says to do a software update. Not reboots since and I also have the Alpine Power pack hooked up to it also.

    **Update 7/31/15**

Head unit continues to reboot randomly, though not as frequently as before. Also does not display correct map information in all screens when selected. Gonna hit the dealer up for another software update next oil change. Not worth the 90 minute wait just for the update.
