Tracking my MPG...

Been tracking my gas mileage for the past few months. I'm attaching the spreadsheet for anyone that would like to do the same. It's easy to print the receipt from pump (I use a credit card for all purchases) and write the Odometer reading at the top - throw the receipt in the glove box and complete the spreadsheet every few weeks.

If you don't feel like opening or viewing the attached spreadsheet, here are the averages:

Running MPG Average: ................17.82 mpg
Total cost of fuel: ..........................$386.78
Cost of fuel per day (81 days): .....$4.78
Total Miles Traveled: .....................2,096 miles
Total Gallons Pumped: ..................136.73 gallons

I did not log my mileage when I was using 87 octane but think I was getting around 15.5mpg. My truck has NOTICEABLY more pick-up with 93 octane. It seems to accelerate much faster.

• 2009 Double Cab short box
• TRD Sport with SR5 and tow package
• Stock suspension with TSB leaf pack
• Stock Bridgestone Dueller H/T - 265/65/17
• Soft tonneau is usually covering the bed
• Usually driving alone with no additional weight in the bed or cab.
• Mostly rural driving (back roads, stop signs, hills, etc). Small percentage is on a highway for longer than 5 miles without a traffic light. We do have a lot of hills around here too.
• I do not have a girlie foot when I drive. I accelerate to the red light then apply brakes (none of that coasting or hypermiling bullshit).
• Highway trips are noted (there was only 1 so far).

I keep a spreadsheet too, but I've become addicted to the Fuelly web site for keeping track of MPG.

 

I was using a spreadsheet, but fuelly works really well. Plus you can export the data to excel if you want to for any reason.

 

I keep track of mine with www.mpgtune.com My average in 10 months is 17.55mpg.

 

I still wanna know how the hell you guys are getting the same mileage I am, and I have 33's! My average is between 17.3 and 17.5 mpg. I got nearly 21 with my stock tires. I drive like a bat outta hell too!

 

Holy crap, you pumped over 20 gallons into your tank on a fillup!?!?! Dude, I hope you're carrying a 5 gallon tank in the back in case you run out. Thats living dangerously!

 

I live in hilly country, haul around 500 lbs in the bed most of the time, pull a small trailer every once in a while. When I pull a trailer my mpg for that tank of gas will be 15.xx. That really brings my average down. If I drove on the highway empty all the time, I would be averageing 20.

 

Hmmm.... you should clarify that. No biggy. Yeah... with a trailer my MPG varied like none other. My worst was a little under 13 mpg pulling the rockies with 4000 pounds on the back.

I don't have a spreadsheet but I've been averaging ~17mpg.

 

I just got my best mileage to date in my 2.7 4x4. 20.7 mpg. With the mileage you guys are getting with the v6, I really regret not buying one.

I have a 2008 V6 and was using 87 octane and got about 17.3 mpg. I recently switched to 91 octane a month ago and notice an increase by 2 mpg.

I know I read this somewhere on TW about someone getting the same thing. I had to try it myself, and now I can totally verify that it's true! Probably a wash, though with the 91 being 10 cents more.

 

Of the six 2006 Tacoma V6s on Fuelly, I'm getting the worst MPG.

I get 22mpg on interstate trips, but I live in a really hilly area... (Hence the name "Vestavia Hills") I blame my shi**y MPGs on the terrain around here, b/c I certainly don't push it.
