Here's my setup with the longer arm. This has been working great!

I haven't figured this one out either. I think you may have to give it an indication of when you fill up..

This sounds like a cool, relatively inexpensive mod. I have an old Ipod touch of my daughters that I might give this a whirl with. So I understand, this will not require a "data plan" or anything with the ios device? It sounds like it's connecting more or less similar to bluetooth connectivity? I was also looking into an OBD2 type sensor/tool that comes with a version of "techstream" whereby we can access some of the parameters on our vehicles and change them (ie the annoying seatbelt chime, etc...theres another thread on this). It looks like this OBD2 "transmits" only.

The obd2 module sets up its own network, you connect to it like any other network from your setting menu on your IPhone, pad, touch etc.

They do make Bluetooth versions of the obd2, but I swear I read somewhere people having issues iOS and the Bluetooth version. Once you have it setup your I whatever will connect automatically when you have it in the truck/car.

The app has tons of user created skins too, plus they have free software on their website to build your own skins/dashes. I have been batting the idea around of installing an ipad or ipad mini directly into the stereo location. This thing just adds 1 more cool feature if I go that route.
