Where did you order the scepters from?

 

Found them on eBay for $50 a piece. They're used, but the description said they were still in good condition. I've used these things in Afghanistan and they're awesome even if they're a little beat up. I'll post a link later.

Nice build! Really like the tent. About to order the same bumper. Think I'm going to get it linexed though.

 

I appreciate it. The only problem with linex is that it can tear if it get caught on a rock. It does look sharp though.

 

True. Maybe I'll stick with rattle can bed liner

I need to get/find a decal that says "Not For Show", just to make sure all those 'main street 4x4 douches' running around on lifts and chrome, that have never been off asphalt, can see what a real truck looks like.

I'm gonna use it for what I built to do. Figure if I break it, I'll fix it...

 

I dig your truck and it looks like you guys have some fun wheeling areas out there. Oh and did you do the diff breather mod? I didn't see it on your list.

 

I have not... I've been meaning to do it, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'll probably pay the price later!

 

How hard had you been running the truck when you took that bath at TORR last time? The breather on your diff is a one way so it closes off when there's external pressure. The problem comes when you dunk a hot diff. The water comes in through the seals.

Play it safe and pull the FILL plug. If it's not all white and foamy you're good to go.

 

Good work man, I like the whole setup! My favs are the swingout and low profile bed rack that keeps the RTT level with the cab

 

Well the time has arrived that I've been prepping for. After 6 months of mods I think my Tacoma is ready for Moab. Leaving tomorrow at 0'dark thirty for the 1300 mile journey.

I will post pics as I get them throughout this trip!

Well my first major trip to Moab was a resounding success. I had an amazing time and met a great bunch of people. The Tacoma community is amazing. I would like to make a challenge to anyone who hasn't been to Moab to wheel your truck. I'LL SEE YOU THERE NEXT YEAR!!!
Here is where I was camping at Area BFE. It's an off road park which is completely free unless you want to make a donation.



This is UpChuck Hill. Managed to find my way to the top without lockers. There were some with dual lockers who weren't able...





Heading out to Dome Plateau. Great trail that is about 20 miles from Area BFE. Great views.











We got side tracked for some cave exploration.



On Kanes Creek we found this which had come to an unfortunate end. I showed it who was dominate by flexing and driving over it. Good fun.



Probably the hardest part of Kanes Creek is the climb out of the canyon. Lots of time and much rubber was left on boulders...





The only damage I sustained on the body (Pax door) is visible in this pic. Just some questionable spotting through "The Squeeze" resulted in this. There was a guy who went through right after me that had the identical damage.

How bad is the door damage?

 

Not bad. Dented a little with a bit of bare metal that I touched up today. I will keep it as a memento of the trip.
