If I had a soft topper, and the factory roof rack, threw my canoe on the roof rack, would it sit on my soft topper? Does anyone any experience with this? I'm kind of picturing it not working so well.

I'm really having a difficult time deciding between a hard canopy with roof rack or the soft topper.

And also, Timberland Mica with Black or the Tan?

I certainly don't have any experience with it, and I'm 1st gen, but I know that my softtopper sits just below the roof line (looks like on a 2nd gen it sits right at)... throw in the height of the roof rack, and you'll be a couple inches above the soft topper. though the soft topper is pretty strong I wouldn't want any substantial portion of the weight sitting on it. I'd still center the canoe over the cab $.02

No. There are racks available to work with a soft top.

    Either color would look good.

My reasoning is I'll only run the rack from time to time, mainly when going hunting. but I'll run the soft topper year round. the weight savings, the ease of conversion are still there (i'm building my own rack and like the ones pictured above, it'll bolt on to a frame that sits under the soft topper clamp.

but yeah personal preference. Maybe if I needed to carry a canoe or something similar often I'd be singing a different tune

If the Bestop came in that brown color, like the Supertop, I would have it in mine. Would match the brown Okole seat covers.

I think I followed you there on Thurs? I was picking one up and couldn't decide. The super friendly lady who helped us mentioned a tan top was just there and it looked great. Ended up with black. I couldn't decide which color so I figured black would be the least wrong. I really do like the tan.

I figured that out after I clicked the link.

I like the grey too. I was deciding between the three. All the way home I kept changing my mind about which one I should have chosen. Today I like gray. Tomorrow I'll be happy I picked black. Then by Wednesday I will wish I had picked tan. I've even thought about inquiring about just the canvas.:D

I'm the same between black and grey... the topper came with the truck... I'd have picked black... but EVERYONE has black... so I like the grey...

Thanks fellas! The grey definitely looks excellent with the green.
So now the million dollar question, or should I say $3600 question (yes that's what the loaded Leer 180 w/ roof rack for DCSB costs here on Fort McMurray AB). Are there any locking options for the soft topper? I know they can easily be slashed, but windows can also be smashed so nothing is perfect!

No I don't think there are... cause you even if you figured out a way to lock the zippers down... you could still unsnap the sides...

Got back from Colorado yesterday with a brand new softopper :D have it pretty much installed just need to warm the garage up a little bit cause i had a helluva time trying to get the fabric to stretch enough to connect the snaps on the bed rails. Being 23* sure isn't helping.
