Is it wrong that I want to trade in my '13 DCSB for a '14 DCLB?

Moving some furniture today, I really wished I had that extra foot in the bed. Also with the bed extender it would be closer to 7 ft. I wonder if I would be upside down in finances. Have any of you fine this switch?

Don't know what you paid or financed but in most cases yes you would be upside down unless you put a pretty good chunk of change on your 13.

As far as wanting to switch? Only you can decide that. If you feel the need for a longer bed and you are comfortable with the switch then I say go for it.

I purchased in December 2012; I think I might come out even with a trade in. I only have 11k miles on my 2013 in a year and 3 1/2 months. Mind you, you be asking why I didn't just buy a dclb fun the get go and the answer is is because the dcsb was a surprise from my fiance. She choose it with out me knowing. It is still under my name though.

okay I though you had already done the trade. well since you have not done it yet then I would think about how often you use the bed and if it is really worth it to you.

You are still losing money no matter how you slice it.

Personally I would just buy a trailer. You will not lose money that way.

Just have the Fiance buy you another truck! :)

It actually sounds like you just want to trade for a 4X4 Long Bed and have already made up your mind. The post was an after thought to get some justification.

Not only the wife's feelings will be hurt, so will your wallet. You will loose money on this just for that extra foot on occasional hauling. It will be cheaper to rent a truck for the occasional haul or if you really plan on hauling alot in the future, keep wife happy, save wear on Tacoma, and save your money by buying an old beater truck off CL.(<$1500). I do admit, I use my LB quite a bit and needed every ft of it.

I owned a '06 DCSB, in July I traded it on a '13 DCLB Sport. I'm with you, the 5' bed is just too short, I lived with it for 7 years. I added the bed extender too, it's nice when you need it, but you have to trip over it for the other 364 days in the year.

Financially, you're going to take a hit, why not just buy yourself a trailer? You can haul just about anything without worrying about beating up your truck.

The downside of the DCLB... the extra length makes it more difficult to park. Also in PA, LB is only available in a Sport or a fleet model, not in OffRoad. Not that it is a bad thing, but you can't get the rear locker in the Sport and the E locker is kinda sucky.

You would be better off buying a trailer. Way cheaper than trading in and much easier to load and unload. When I had my Tacoma I only put stuff in the bed when I was building my house. After that, anything I hauled went in my trailer.

    Do dents and scratches count?
x2 Women can get pretty hurt about things that we feel make perfect sense. My opinion, get a trailer or rent a truck for the occasions you need a longer bed. Keep the truck. Keep her happy!

Usually takes 3 yrs for truck value to loan rate to even out. Buy a 800. 5x8 trailer! Best of both worlds..

Get a nice utility trailer if you have a spot to park it. You can beat the crap out of it instead of your truck. It's easier to load the toys on (ATVs, dirt bikes, mowers, etc.). I can count on one hand the number of times I wish I had a long bed. Actually I could not...because it would be zero. That extra 13" of wheel base has too many drawbacks for me. Keep what you have until you get your more important finances where they need to be (disregard if she's extremely wealthy:bowdown:). I really get the 4x4 part though.

Yep, just get a utility trailer. They're easier to load and unload anyway. If you get the new truck do it for 4x4 not an extra 1 foot of bed space.

You would be surprised what you can haul in a short bed with the tailgate down and no extender, one extra foot usually isn't going to make or break the load. Last weekend I hauled a large California King size mattress, a long full size couch, a medium size dresser, and several full sheets of plywood in my DCSB. I've never had an item that was to big to haul actually. When I finally get my 4-wheeler I'm going to get a small trailer myself.
