What is PGE? I go with safelite when I get mine changed.

It's another autoglass manufacturer... the jist of the conversation was that someone (don't remember which of them) was told it's stronger and holds up to chips better than safelite, and that it costs safelite less than $10 to make a windshield, the hole "you get what you pay for" mentality.

in personal experience, I've had both, I've had both chip... so can't speak to it's truthfulness, but I can count on one hand how many times I've had a windshield chipped anyways.

I always use factory replacements. But I don't pay for them they are covered in my insurance.

How did you get them covered by your insurance company?

A small handful of select mods.
Typically windshield replace or repair is a line item that you can add to your comprehensive coverage.

Nope lol. They dealer doesn't produce my touch up paint anymore so I have to find some elsewhere. I just bought a spray can of clear coat (almost bought one on accident with glitter!) and got me a paintbrush set at the dollar store. Sprayed it into a paper plate and at least covered up the bare metal with clear so it won't rust.

This was just a spray can lol

All I can say it don't use safelite. Mine cracked within the first week and it wasn't cheap.

    Forgot to ask.

Anyone in a badass 01-04 Lunar Mist with a tastefully done lift and aftermarket front/rear bumpers almost rear end a saggy looking 98 Sunfire Red Mist on Saturday evening as we were coming to a stop on Sante Fe near Hampden? We were heading south.

    That was me.

    Windshields.....
Seems like everytime I replace one, it gets chipped the next day.
My 2000 Ranger went 190k miles and 12.5 years with the factory windshield.
I replaced it to sell it.
It was cracked many places and god help you if you had to drive into the sun. I sometimes stuck my head out the side window so I could see.
Coolest initial thing about getting the new tacoma was being able to see out the windshield. Blew my mind.

Yeah I don't really wanna wheel with it in Moab too much with it cracked so bad, don't want it to end up in my lap. Also gonna have to get it replaced at some point so why not now.

I couldn't drive with it like this for 5 years. Drives me crazy

I hear ya. If it makes you feel any better (or worse :notsure: ) I wheeled all the time with it and it was fine like that.

I've seen super cracked windshields on rigs that go on way harder stuff than we take our tacos and I've never seen one break. I think you'll be fine.

Haha true I just need an excuse to replace it, but really it just bothers me while driving.

Say what you want, I don't like driving with a crack right in my line of sight. Maybe you can put up with it. And that's cool

That was the worst part of it. And like I said, I understand why that would be a nuisance, however I typically just deal with crap like that.

    For years.

Me too, I have a few chips in mine right now. I'll still prolly wait for it to crack then I'll drive like that for a while... And then replace it.
