nice...guess I just got lucky with a working one and bass knob on the first try. Still, for his price, it's hard to go wrong.

I agree on it being just enough bass. What sort of settings do you have your gains set to? I really have no idea what I'm doing for that part, but it sounds pretty good anyways. Maybe it could be better though

Hmm, mine just stopped working. Still have power, so I suspect I blew it. What's cool is that SO is a Crutchfield brand and their CS rocks, so I suspect my warranty claim will be easy. Three year warranty for the save.

well well, it doesn't look like crutchfield is selling this model anymore. Instead they are offering the B-8PTD, which only two differences seem to be that they don't feature a pic of where to wiring goes and it's $50 more expensive. What gives??

Also, i'm VERY interested to see how someone tapped into their factory HU to set this up. I like my headunit after the hours i spent painting it :D

I wouldn't worry too much about the price - it's their house brand so it goes on sale about 6 times a year for $50 off with a harness. Also, I plugged in an RCA/3.5mm adapter and plugged in my phone to test it out, and it worked. So I knew it was a HU issue until I plugged it back up and it's working with my HU now. Crazy. Can a sub just freeze up and then pop loose like that?

I just got the new one on sale ($30 or $20 off) with a free ($30 value) wiring kit. here's the wiring kit.

That's interesting because I feel like mine does the exact same thing. Maybe I'm pushing it too hard or something but every once in a blue moon it cuts out on me while driving. But the next time I get it my truck it works again. Still haven't figured it out

Not that you asked me specifically, but I run my gains about 2/3 setting. And I tend to run my sub dial at about 65% of total as well. I run the crossover on my HU to cut off at 80 hz on the low end for my 6x9s and the sub to cut out anything above 90 hz. I think setting the crossover right is key on these little subs, otherwise they work too hard playing the whole signal. Setting the crossover makes it more punchy and clean, like a real subwoofer. If you don't have a crossover on your HU, you can still set it on the sub itself.

Sweet thanks...I'll give that a whirl. Really all I do is mess with the bass knob and usually end up having it at about 2/3 too

How would I wire one of these to a stock HU in a 05 tacoma?
The owner doesn't want to get an aftermarket HU so I get to tie into the harness to get it to work.

I tied into my stock head unit with a line out converter. I tapped the speaker wires behind the headunit. I'm actually getting an aftermarket headunit in tomorrow that has sub RCA outs so I'd be glad to sell you the converter on the cheap

Thanks, but we'll find something local so we don't have to wait for shipping.
I'll check out a line out converter.

No problem. You may be able to find a better way to tap the speaker level input because getting the line out converter to fit behind the dash is a really tight squeeze but it can be done

Just got off the phone and Crutchfield is sending me a brand new unit of the upgraded B8PT that blew after 2 years. No hassle at all. Customer service is why I use Crutchfield for all my audio!

New B8ptd switched out in about 10 minutes. New sub hits hard. Big +1 to Crutchfield customer service.

Will this fit under the passenger seat in a 2nd Gen without getting in the way of sliding the seat?
