Awesome, thanks, Chris! I wonder why the alignment shop didn't catch this before? Would you suggest Big O Tires or Brakes Plus? I had Big O do it the first time. Brakes Plus is half the cost at $50.

Will do! Big O does all the lifted trucks for the Toyota dealership, so I'll just go there. I'll check the printout they gave me originally and see how far off I am from the specs you gave. Will these specs be good for the 3" Toytec spacer/AAL lift or does that even matter? Thanks again!

If you guys had not mentioned bending the sheet metal I probably would have taken the whole front end off...

 

Someone else said this to but I think the zirks were apparently fitted before the powder coating. I used the ones they sent but it was a bitch to get them threaded in. Couldn't get them to go all the way down but they work.

I wanted to update folks on an approach I took at the last minute that worked out nice.

I decided I didn't want to bend my metalwork on the body to get the stock bolts out. I just think it is a bit retarded to buy a $30k truck and just because you want to upgrade the suspension you have to bend the crap out of the body? WTF?

Solution: cut the heads off the bolts and replace them with new ones.

I thought these would be expensive but once I called my local dealer, it turns out they are like $6...six tiny dollars. So for $12 and about 20 seconds with a sawzall and you don't have to bend jack squat.

My dealer only had one in stock but ordered another (2 days) which slowed down my build. Just plan ahead and get these as it was so damn easy I would never consider taking the bend and yank approach. They really just slide right out toward the back, avoiding the bend, avoiding the wiring, and avoiding that question from the uninitiated: 'WTF happened there?'

 

I understand that perfectly well. My buddy bent his and while I could tell, it wasn't that bad. However, I chose a different route.

If you are okay with the picture below then hell yeah bend the shit out of anything you like. Have a party.


As I thought I made clear last post I didn't want to bend shit. I didn't want to pop the harness off. For those who share these sentiments, they now have an option.

It is about a 30 second job to get both bolts out depending on the sawzall blade. It is just a superior approach in my mind. Faster and doesn't require cracking paint, pinch weld or not.

Tell me the first time you did the job it took you 30 seconds to get the bolts out with the bend and move the harness approach!
