Looks like 2015 won't bring major redesign.

Saw this, looks like the Tundra is still getting all the design love. The color is kinda cool but feature wise it's less than the Tundra and essentially just a new grill insert on a baja.

    C'MON toyota!

"Lets not forget the tacoma.." Why not? Toyota obviously has.

Also this guy uses the word "unique" a lot, but clearly doesn't know what it means.

Why make a major change to something that people already love? The biggest complaints I've heard is no diesel version and gears. There's too many people STILL buying them like crazy to need to make major changes.

Why fix something that isn't broken.

It's creeping in on almost 10 years now, and this truck is still selling like hot cakes.

Well Kenneth, because design iterations and improvements are usually driven by competition. The Tundra gets better and better every year because it's in a hotly contested market segment and manufacturers have to work hard for our business. Yes, sales are great for the Taco, it's a great truck BUT it's also completely stagnant because there is no one to come in and take a chunk out of their sales. They get a free pass at a market segment with little/no competitors and the truck stays the same for a decade. Great news for toyota of course, but no bueno for us the customers. Make sense?

No. It doesn't make sense. If it were bad for customers, they wouldn't be selling as well. And being in a less competitive market doesn't mean its easier for them. If they put out a crap product, then they don't sell. Sales were 50% higher in the US last year compared to 2010. There were no major changes during that time.

Exactly. The Tacoma was never intended to be flashy, trendy, or gimmicky. People buy Tacomas for reliability. It doesn't need a bunch of special features and new designs. It's a proven vehicle.

I know everyone wants a new Tacoma with all the fancy features available today, but when I was buying my truck; The fact that it hadn't been re-designed in 8 years was a major selling point to me. I knew it was reliable and one of the major reasons for this is the fact that it hasn't been changed every few years.

I will have a 2014 soon and honestly will be less worried about any defects due to the fact the design has been around so long and issues fixed for the most part and the new redesigned one more than likely will have a whole set of different issues than the last decade of tacomas has. Just my thoughts. ^post above me :)

I totally agree about buying reliable
My gf and I bought a 2013 Civic that hasn't changed much from the previous eight years and figured we will not have problems that arise from a new design it was only a partial redesign

I agree buying reliable is nice but its a time for upgrade such as the engine even though its very reliable it could use some power gains as well as another gear on the tranny for fuel efficiency

Because ..... When my 07 reaches 10 years old.....I certainly don't want to buy a newer version of my old truck. ;) And I never buy the first year of a new model.

By the way this is going....I'm gonna have to keep my 07 for 15 years before I'm able to get a good reliable newer model (after they get the bugs out). ;) :D

This is my point. Maybe the truck is perfect and could never/will never get better, but I'm not of that mindset.

When I shopped for a truck in 2009, I test drove everything I could, including a Ranger.

I sat in it and thought, "Damn, this is the same Ranger I could have bought in 1996, but with an "AUX" port."

Tacoma is fairly close to being that Ranger now. It has been ten years since the 2005 debuted. Sure, it's a nice design, but it's a nice ten year old design. With what is rapidly becoming an un-competitive, inefficient V6 engine compared to its rivals.

My only speculation at this point is that Toyota is betting that the fuel economy train is going to go off the rails soon, and they're putting their R&D budget into preparing for the direct-injected 4cyl gas/electric hybrid compact truck that will replace the Taco...

Haha what rival(s). The next closes rival the Taco has is the Frontier,(every one knows which outsells which), any others don't even matter at this point.

Yah I know the upcoming Colorado. Will it live up to the hype, imho probably not. The only good thing going for it is the "diesel engine" that's everyone talking about.

Perception is everything, last Colorado was a POS. What'll get current Taco owners to move on to something that's not proven.
