    well said.
like i mentioned in another thread...the more you sand, the better the finished product looks. i know Noe had some problems with his. he didnt sand enough and painted it white( which showed all the imperfections)
but, his perforated steel sheet is awesome. glad i ditched the mesh for it.

Like everyone else has said....give yourself plenty of time and be prepared to reapply bondo to fill the little pinholes you get when sanding. I probably didn't need to but I eventually finished sanding with 1000 grit (probably excessive right?)

But if you think that takes time dont try what I've been working on:0809091957_e9c9839d8712a83fe56424694a851995ad344a78.jpg

    Noe's mesh?

That's the one thing that's holding me back from doing the Satoshi / Jamoshi ( whatever it's called )....I used to do computer modding back in the day ( big nerd :D ) and used mesh and while it looked good from a distance it looked kind of cheap up close. Is the mesh yall are using pretty close to the grillcraft material?

my first satoshi came out pretty good, but the one im working on right now has been a pita. i tried to get creative and skip the fiberglass and resin. instead i used a flat piece of abs plastic and adhered it to the back of the cut outs with abs glue. the only problem was it flexed to much when sanding and the bondo would crack at the seams. i finally gave in and ripped that abs crap out and im gonna start again tomorrow the right way.

I'm glad your opinion has changed a little bit. It's not the easiest thing to do, but saying that not many people will appreciate it is  I have received a lot of compliments from mine. I actually have to re-do mine, but I like the fact that my handiwork is displayed, and not just a Grillcraft that anyone can buy. Now if I can build up the courage for the BHLM...

Good luck to all future Satoshi modders!

nope..kinda my own knock off version. instead of filling in the inserts i tried to use the a solid piece of the abs plastic as a support for the bondo, but every time i would go to smooth it out the sander would shake to much it chip some bondo off the edges

x2....I've done 3 now as well and they definitely weren't A weekend project. It takes time for the different layers to dry and just one layer doesn't cut it. I guess it just a depends on how picky the builder is. I just know I didn't want to have to go back to fix something later on so I took the same approach as you SecretSquirrel.

I agree with SecretSquirrel and 1BlkT. For me, I had never used fiberglass or bondo, so I was pretty impatient. I now have to go back and re-do it, so definitely take your time!
