I've driven another TW members truck who has the LCE header. I don't know if it deepened the sound but it seemed to muffle it a little. Same experience I've had putting headers on Mustangs and such.

Oh man, there's a thought. I love my little 4-banger but it'd be pretty interesting to have a 5.4 underneath the hood. :D

Well tbh I wouldn't mind a lil better torque more than anything

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.
The LCE header definitely makes more torque as well as lowering the torque peak in the rpm range. And it's not any louder running with the stock exhaust. Here's how mine sounds with the header and running the stock exhaust (2nd and 3rd gear run).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFTl75q49e4

For comparison, this is the header with the Magnaflow muffler (1st and 2nd gear run).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvIBURPwtXw

When I dyno tested the header on my engine...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6ofUy8_-6Q

...the peak went from 3,800 rpm stock down to 3,150 rpm.
(the spacer dropped the peak another 250 rpm to 2,900 rpm)

On the dyno, a bone stock 2.7 makes 117 ftlbs @ 3,800 rpm at the rear wheels.
On the dyno, my 2.7 makes 160 ftlbs @ 2,900 rpm at the rear wheels.
This is 37% more torque at 26% less rpms.

Yup, that's me all right... :)
Mine 2.7 has plenty of low end pull even though it's a fully loaded work truck.

Hey everyone, after reading all of the posts in this thread ive decided to go with Magnaflow 18" part number 10425. 2.25 In and out. 4' round body. I just want to make sure this muffler would fit on my 05 access cab 2.7 tacoma? thanks

I think as long as the inlet and outlet match up I don't see why it wouldn't. However, I had the 14 inch center/offset installed on my truck, and it was a real bitch because of the shape, and how short it was. I think yours being straight (if the pic is accurate) would make your life easier.

It'll work just fine as long as you don't mind cab drone. I ran a Magnaflow 18 inch oval muffler for a week and took it off. Went with a large 22 inch oval and love it. :)

Given the same diameter inlet/outlet... short or long, round or oval... Magnaflow straight through perforated cores are all the same. The only difference is in the length of the core and how much sound damping material surrounds it.

Likin the Gibson catback I finally had chance to take out of box and put on the truck. No drone, just louder growl at lo/hi rpms but all normal driving range is about same as oem..........

Count me into the group too. Once in a while on a cold start I get a pretty gnarly backfire too. Only happened three or four times in the weeks I've had it. Other than that it's been good though. She sure likes to pop and spit on the overrun, sounds mean. :D

It's a good sound. Just too much of it. Going to be driving it back and forth to work tomorrow. Will have to see if it grows on me.

When did you realize it was a 4cyl? About 3500 rpm? :D

I made the following video while I was replacing my muffler. There is a 2-bolt flange between the front of the muffler and the back of that last cat. I removed the bolts and pushed the pipe out of the way. Yeah, it's pretty loud.
